Pole position for Aston Martin in Oschersleben

Jan Philipp Springob von COSY Racing by ESM set the fastest time in qualifying for the Saturday race in ADAC GT4 Germany at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. Four different manufacturers in the top five.

There was no beating Jan Philipp Springob (25/Olpe) in qualifying for Saturday’s ADAC GT4 Germany race in Oschersleben. He took 1:29.493 minutes to complete his fastest lap of the 3.667-kilometre track in an Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 run by COSY Racing by ESM. This is Springob’s fourth pole position in the ADAC’s sports car series, and his first in Oschersleben.

“After the result of yesterday’s free practice, we were not actually expecting pole position. However, our car seems to work very well over one lap,” said Springob, who shares the Aston Martin with Philipp Gogollok (20/Bad Homburg). “We are now excited about the race. Starting from the front is definitely not a disadvantage. Our goal is definitely to win!” Springob and Gogollok tasted victory at the season opener at the Red Bull Ring.

Second place, just 0.130 seconds off the pole time, went to Lucas Cartelle (18/BEL) and Hudson Schwartz (17/USA, both CRT), who are making their debut in ADAC GT4 Germany this year. This is the best qualifying result for a Toyota GR Supra GT4 at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. Starting from third place on the grid will be Marius Schmid (18/Tengen) and Alex Connor (22/GBR) from BWT Mücke Motorsport, whose Mercedes-AMG GT4 was 0.165 seconds slower than Springob. As such, three different manufacturers finished in the top three in qualifying.

Roman Fellner-Feldegg (24/Landsberg am Lech) and Marek Böckmann (29/Lautersheim, both Prosport Racing) were fourth in another Mercedes-AMG, 0.434 seconds off the pace. Rounding out the top five were Gabriele Piana (39/ITA) and Benjamin Sylvestersson (19/FIN, both FK Performance Motorsport) in a BMW M4 GT4.

Championship leaders Denny Berndt (21/Berlin) and Lachlan Robinson (22/AUS, both AVIA W&S Motorsport) had to settle for eighth place in a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4. Saturday’s ADAC GT4 Germany race in Oschersleben starts at 15:10 and will be shown live on adac.de/motorsport, ServusTV On, Joyn, sport1.de and youtube.com/adacmotorsports .
