For the first time since 2022, a Toyota GR Supra GT4 will start an ADAC GT4 Germany race from the front of the grid. In BMW, Aston Martin and Porsche, the top five features a further three manufacturers.
Lucas Cartelle (18/BEL) produced an impressive performance in qualifying for Sunday’s race in ADAC GT4 Germany at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. A time of 1:29.767 secured pole position for the youngster in a Toyota GR Supra GT4. “It obviously feels great to start the race from the front of the grid. That is definitely a great starting position. I must now keep my concentration and not lose focus,” said Cartelle, who lines up alongside Hudson Schwartz (17/USA, both CRT). “We struggled a bit over the course of yesterday’s race. However, we did a lot of work on the car yesterday evening and this morning. I think we have made progress. We are really looking forward to the race, and hope to challenge for a spot on the podium.”
This is Cartelle’s first pole position in ADAC GT4 Germany, and the second for Toyota, having previously achieved the feat in the Saturday race at the Nürburgring in 2022. Second place in Oschersleben, 0.644 seconds slower than Cartelle, went to Gabriele Piana (39/ITA) and Benjamin Sylvestersson (19/FIN, both FK Performance Motorsport). Sylvestersson was at the wheel of the BMW M4 GT4 for qualifying, and set a personal best time of 1:30.411 minutes. Starting from third place on the grid will be Saturday’s winners, Jan Philipp Springob (25/Olpe) and Philipp Gogollok (20/Bad Homburg, both COSY Racing by ESM). They found themselves 0.689 seconds off Cartelle’s pace in their Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4.
Gianni van de Craats (20/NED) and Victor Nielsen (19/DEN, both FK Performance Motorsport) were fourth in another BMW, 0.860 seconds off the pole time. Rounding out the top five were Hendrik Still (38/Kempenich) and Tim Horrell (35/USA, both AVIA W&S Motorsport) in the best-placed Porsche 718 Cayman GT4.
Sunday’s ADAC GT4 Germany race gets underway at 15:10 and will be shown live on free-to-air TV on Sport1.
