Springob’s Aston Martin leads the way in Free Practice 2

Jan Philipp Springob was the fastest driver in the second free practice session of ADAC GT4 Germany at the Red Bull Ring. It was an evenly matched field, with Aston Martin, Porsche and BMW in the top three.

Dominant performance from COSY Racing by ESM on the practice day for ADAC GT4 Germany at the Red Bull Ring: Jan Philipp Springob’s (25/Olpe) time of 1:36.375 minutes proved unbeatable in the Free Practice 2 at the 4.326-kilometre circuit. The team from Saxony’s Aston Martin Vantage GT4 AMR Evo had previously posted the fastest time in the opening session of the day, when team-mate Philipp Gogollok (20/Bad Homburg) stopped the clock at 1:35.881 to record the best lap of the day.

“It was simply the perfect Friday. We feel right at home here. The car is running superbly,” beamed Springob. “I put together a perfect lap. We gave it our all and are very happy for today. On Saturday, my first goal is pole position – then we will see how the race goes. I think we are basically in a really good place.”

0.502 seconds slower, second place in FP2 went to Denny Berndt (21/Berlin) and Lachlan Robinson (22/AUS, both AVIA W&S Motorsport) in the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4. They were followed in third place by the BMW M4 GT4 Evo of Linus Hahne (22/Oelde) and Philip Wiskirchen (21/Euskirchen, both ME Motorsport), who were 0.629 seconds off top spot. As such, cars from three different manufacturers occupied the top three positions.

Alon Gabbay (22/ISR) and Maximilian Schreyer (17/Marburg, both AVIA W&S Motorsport) ended the session in fourth place in another Porsche, 0.703 seconds behind Springob. Rounding out the top five were Gianni van de Craats (20/NED) and Victor Nielsen (19/DEN, both FK Performance Motorsport) in a BMW.
