Jan Philipp Springob and Philipp Gogollok each secure pole position in an Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 for the two ADAC GT4 Germany races at the Nürburgring. Multiple manufacturers fare well in both qualifying sessions.
There were great celebrations in the Aston Martin camp after qualifying in ADAC GT4 Germany at the Nürburgring. In both sessions, the top time was set by the Vantage AMR GT4 of COSY Racing by ESM. Jan Philipp Springob (25/Olpe) came out on top in Q1 with a time of 1:31.781 minutes. His team-mate Philipp Gogollok (20/Bad Homburg) was then unbeatable in Q2, stopping the clock at 1:32.014 minutes.
“This is a very good position going into the races today and tomorrow. We are obviously super happy with the two pole positions. The team prepared the car perfectly and we two drivers tried to squeeze every last hundredth of a second out of the Aston Martin,” said a delighted Gogollok as he exited the car.
“We could not start the races from a better position. I am thrilled with the result – particularly as it is my home race,” added Springob. “We have been strong in qualifying all season. I hope we can back that performance up in the race. I think the high temperatures will help us, as our car works really well in them. The goal for the races is to win both.”
Behind the British car, both qualifying sessions were close affairs. Lachlan Robinson (22/AUS, AVIA W&S Motorsport), in a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4, was 0.157 seconds slower than Springob in securing second place on the grid for Saturday’s race. His partner Denny Berndt (21/Berlin) will also start from the front row of the grid on Sunday. He was just 0.059 seconds off pole pace in Q2.
There is plenty of diversity as you move further down the grid. Erik Bertilsson (25/SWE, KRT Racing) qualified third for the Saturday race, missing out on top spot by 0.170 seconds in his Ginetta G56 GT4. Fourth place went to championship leader Gabriele Piana (39/ITA, FK Performance Motorsport) in a BMW M4 GT4.
Hudson Schwartz (17/USA, CRT), at the wheel of a Toyota GR Supra GT4, qualified third for Sunday’s race, 0.067 seconds slower than pole-sitter Gogollok. Local favourite Hendrik Still (39/Kempenich, AVIA W&S Motorsport) completed the top four in a Porsche.
Saturday’s ADAC GT4 Germany race at the Nürburgring starts at 15:10 and will be broadcast live on adac.de/motorsport, ServusTV On, Joyn, sport1.de and youtube.com/adacmotorsports . The Sunday race can also be seen on free TV station SPORT1, with coverage starting at 15:00.
