The AVIA W&S Motorsport driver leads the Drivers’ Championship in ADAC GT4 Germany together with Lachlan Robinson, and the man from Berlin is particularly looking forward to the Sachsenring.
ADAC GT4 Germany is set for a thrilling end to the 2026 season. Just two race weekends remain – and three pairs of drivers are separated by just 14 points at the top of the table. The championship leaders are Denny Berndt (21/Berlin) and Lachlan Robinson (22/AUS), who drive a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 for AVIA W&S Motorsport. “We certainly did not expect to be at the very top of the standings. Having said that, our goal is obviously always to win,” says Berndt. “Together with Lachlan and the team, we have a super package. That gives us a good feeling for the rest of the season. We will do our best.”
The racer from Berlin and his Australian team-mate can look back on a really successful season so far. In eight races, they have made it onto the podium on five occasions. The highlight has been the two victories: in the Saturday race at the Norisring, and more recently in the Sunday race at the Nürburgring. “Actually, I enjoyed race one at the Nürburgring most – and the feedback from outside after that race. The racing was just awesome, and the highlight of the season so far,” says Berndt.
Berndt came through the BMW M2 Cup before making his debut in ADAC GT4 Germany in 2024. Since then, he has always been at the wheel of a Porsche. “The choice of car just sort of worked itself out – it was not actually a conscious decision,” Berndt reveals. “I did a test day in the Porsche and immediately felt at home in the car. Since then, I have been able to build on what I learned. As such, there is no reason to change car.”
While Berndt has opted for consistency with regard to his race car, he did switch team to AVIA W&S Motorsport ahead of the 2026 season. “The cooperation with the team is really very good,” says Berndt, full of praise for the team from Baden-Württemberg, which won the Team competition in ADAC GT4 Germany three times in a row from 2023 to 2025. “Communication is on equal terms. I feel happy in the team – and that is an important basis for success.” The 21-year-old also has a new team-mate this year, in the form of Lachlan Robinson. “Lachlan does not say much and is fast,” Berndt chuckles. “He has many strengths in the car. He is a top driver, particularly in qualifying.”
Berndt and Robinson are ready and raring to go in the remaining two race weekends from 11th to 13th September at the Sachsenring, and at the Hockenheimring in mid-October. “We have a good chance at both circuits. From a driving perspective, I really like the Sachsenring. You need a lot of feel with the wheel and the throttle in the many left turns,” says Berndt.
Berndt is hoping to lay the foundations for a successful run-in with good results at the circuit near Chemnitz – although he refuses to accept the role of favourites, and is keen to block out the subject as much as possible for now. “Subconsciously, you obviously think about the title. However, that does not help me in the car,” Berndt stresses. “We have performed consistently so far this season. We need to continue that way at the two remaining race weekends. We have to keep doing a good job and stay calm. Then we will see what happens at the end of the season.”
