BMW on top in Free Practice 2 at the Nürburgring

Philip Wiskirchen, at the wheel of an M4 GT4 for ME Motorsport, posted the fastest time of the day in ADAC GT4 Germany at the Nürburgring. Porsche also looked good in the second free practice session.

The first day of practice in ADAC GT4 Germany at the Nürburgring is over, and saw an impressive display from BMW. Three M4 GT4 occupied the top three places at the end of Free Practice 2. The fastest time of 1:33.740 minutes came courtesy of Philip Wiskirchen (22/Euskirchen), who lines up alongside Linus Hahne (22/Oelde, both ME Motorsport).

“Leading the way in free practice is certainly a good sign looking ahead to qualifying. You know that you are doing something right with the set-up of the car. I think we are in a really good place,” said Wiskirchen. “I always really enjoy being at the Nürburgring, which is actually my favourite circuit. We would really like to finish on the podium twice this weekend.”

Their ME Motorsport team-mates Lukas Stiefelhagen (19/NED) and Leon Bauchmüller (19/Kurchlinteln) took second place in the session, 0.157 seconds slower than Wiskirchen. Third place went to championship leaders Gabriele Piana (39/ITA) and Benjamin Sylvestersson (19/FIN, both FK Performance Motorsport). That meant an all-BMW top three on the timings sheet at the end of Friday, as all three improved on the time of 1:33.956 minutes set by Ginetta driver Erik Bertilsson (25/SWE, KRT Racing) in the morning’s practice session.

In fourth place in FP2, with a time of 1:34.122 minutes, were Denny Berndt (21/Berlin) and Lachlan Robinson (22/AUS, both AVIA W&S Motorsport), who are currently second in the table. Their team-mates Alon Gabbay (22/ISR) and Maximilian Schreyer (17/Marburg, both AVIA W&S Motorsport) rounded out the top five. The action in ADAC GT4 Germany continues on Saturday. The two qualifying sessions start at 09:00 and will be streamed live on Joyn and the ADAC Motorsport channel youtube.com/adacmotorsports. Lights go green for race one at 15:10. As well as on Joyn and YouTube, the race action can also be seen on SPORT1.de and ServusTV On.
