Aston Martin success in the Sunday race

Jan Philipp Springob and Philipp Gogollok win in ADAC GT4 Germany. Three manufacturers on the podium: Aston Martin, BMW and Porsche. Gabriele Piana and Benjamin Sylvestersson leave Austria as championship leaders.

British triumph in Austria in ADAC GT4 Germany: Jan Philipp Springob (25/Olpe) and Philipp Gogollok (20/Bad Homburg) from COSY Racing by ESM claimed a commanding lights-to-flag victory in their Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 Evo in Sunday’s ADAC GT4 Germany race at the Red Bull Ring. Second place for BMW M4 GT4 Evo drivers Gabriele Piana (39/ITA) and Benjamin Sylvestersson (18/FIN, both FK Performance Motorsport), and third for the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 duo of Denny Berndt (21/Berlin) and Lachlan Robinson (22/AUS, both AVIA W&S Motorsport) mean cars from three different manufacturers occupied the top three positions. This was the third victory in a row at the racetrack in Austria for Gogollok, who had previously triumphed there in 2024 and 2025.

Gogollok impressed with pole position in qualifying, and the driver from Hessen converted the optimal grid position into the lead at the start of the race. By the midway point of the race, he had extended his lead to roughly four seconds. Behind the Aston Martin, however, it was all kicking off. Alon Gabbay (22/ISR) in a Porsche, his AVIA W&S Motorsport team-mate Berndt and BMW driver Sylvestersson were embroiled in a captivating battle for second place, with Gabbay gaining the upper hand in the first half of the race.

However, the order changed significantly during the pit stop window. A perfectly timed stop allowed Berndt’s partner Robinson to take second place ahead of Gabriele Piana, who had taken over from Sylvestersson, and Gabbay’s partner Maximilian Schreyer (17/Marburg). Meanwhile, Springob, who had replaced Gogollok in the Aston Martin, was reeling off his laps in dominant fashion out in front. Piana put Robinson under considerable pressure as the race progressed, and was able to pass the Australian with roughly ten minutes of the race remaining – and so to clinch second place. As such, Piana and Sylvestersson will travel to the next race weekend at the Norisring as championship leaders. Unimpressed by everything going on behind him, Springob claimed a commanding race win, which also meant victory in the Junior classification for Gogollok.

Before the race drew to a close, there was still time for another exciting battle for third place between Robinson and BMW driver Luca Link (22/Günzburg, FK Performance Motorsport), from which the Porsche driver emerged on top. Link and his partner Luis Moser (17/AUT) came home fourth. Fifth place went to Gabbay and Schreyer, ahead of the two BMW of Linus Hahne (22/Oelde) and Philip Wiskirchen (21/Euskirchen, both ME Motorsport), and Gianni van de Craats (20/NED) and Victor Nielsen (19/DEN, both FK Performance Motorsport). In eighth place were Roman Fellner-Feldegg (23/Landsberg am Lech) and Marek Böckmann (29/Lautersheim, both Prosport Racing), ahead of fellow Mercedes-AMG GT4 drivers Marius Schmid (18/Tengen) and Alex Connor (22/GBR, both BWT Mücke Motorsport). That was enough to earn Schmid victory in the rookie competition. Rounding out the top ten were PRO-AM winners Hendrik Still (38/Kempenich) and Tim Horrell (35/USA, both AVIA W&S Motorsport) in a Porsche.

Jan Philipp Springob – winner for COSY Racing by ESM: “Perhaps it looked a bit boring from the outside, but we pushed to the max on every lap. We knew that the BMW is always strong at the end of the race. With that in mind, we had to consistently get through our laps without making any mistakes. We managed that. On the whole, we are extremely happy with the win.”

Philipp Gogollok – winner for COSY Racing by ESM: “The start was really turbulent, but we were able to stay out of all the mayhem and pull a little way clear at the front. It was a solid stint from my side. Jan Philipp then ensured that the gap remained a big one. We can be very happy with the race weekend.”

Gabriele Piana – runner-up for FK Performance Motorsport: “Second place is definitely a little bittersweet, as we had the potential after Saturday’s race to also win on Sunday. However, we somehow always found ourselves stuck in traffic, and lost time as a result. It is definitely nice to be leading the championship – but it would be even better to be top of the table after the last race of the season.”

Benjamin Sylvestersson – runner-up for FK Performance Motorsport: “It is obviously great to leave the Red Bull Ring with a win and a second place. That was a really good start to the season. Hopefully, we can continue exactly like that at the Norisring. I had a few nice battles during my stint, which were really good fun.”

Lachlan Robinson – third place for AVIA W&S Motorsport: “We finished on the podium twice here, and have consequently scored plenty of points in the title race. Both races were very action-packed for me, with many battles. It was excellent racing and everything was clean. That was awesome.”

Denny Berndt – third place for AVIA W&S Motorsport: “It was a good day, and we are obviously very happy with the podium. As Lachlan said, there were good battles, as the competition is extremely strong in ADAC GT4 Germany. Thank you to the team too, as our pit stop worked superbly. We are already looking forward to the Norisring.”
