Two pole positions for Aston Martin

Jan Philipp Springob from COSY Racing by ESM and Hugo Sasse from Prosport Racing each secured a pole position for the two ADAC GT4 Germany races at the Sachsenring. Close margins and competition between the many manufacturers were features of the two qualifying sessions.

There was plenty of drama and excitement in qualifying for the ADAC GT4 Germany races at the Sachsenring. At the end of both sessions, it was Aston Martin doing the celebrating. Jan Philipp Springob (24/Olpe) from COSY Racing by ESM took pole position for Saturday’s race with a time of 1:25.140 seconds in his Vantage AMR GT4. “I am extremely happy. The lap was absolutely perfect. It all really came together,” said a beaming Springob, who starts alongside Storm Gjerdrum (16/NOR). “The fact that it is a home event for the team obviously makes the result all the nicer.”

Second place in qualifying for the Saturday race, 0.421 seconds behind Springob, went to the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 of Hendrik Still (38/Kempenich) and Philipp Gogollok (19/Bad Homborg, both AVIA W&S Motorsport). They were followed by their team-mates Oskar Lind Kristensen (19/DNK) and Lachlan Robinson (21/AUS), who missed out on pole by 0.604 seconds. Completing the top four were championship leaders Enrico Förderer (18/Leuterod) and Jay Mo Härtling (22/Sprockhövel, both SR Motorsport by Schnitzelalm) in a Mercedes-AMG GT4.

Qualifying for the Sunday race was then won by Hugo Sasse (21/Aschersleben) from Prosport Racing, who stopped the clock at 1:25.784 minutes in an Aston Martin. This is Sasse’s eighth pole position in ADAC GT4 Germany, ensuring he remains the undisputed record holder in this regard. “I am thrilled, as it was not an easy qualifying. I had traffic on both my fastest laps, so had to stay out for another one. However, that was then good enough. It was obviously exciting,” said Sasse, who lines up together with Roman Fellner-Feldegg (23/Landsberg am Lech). “In the race, the aim is to push hard at first, then look after the tyres for Roman. We want to challenge for the win.”

In second place, just 0.175 seconds back, was the Porsche of Raphael Rennhofer (18/AUT) and Emil Heyerdahl (23/NOR, both Wimmer Werk Motorsport), who are currently third in the table. They start Sunday’s race ahead of the Mercedes-AMG duo of Härtling and Förderer, who were 0.22 seconds off Sasse’s top time. Fourth place went to Linus Hahne (21/Oelde) and ADAC Stiftung Sport driver Thomas Rackl (17/Berching, both ME Motorsport) in a BMW.

Saturday’s ADAC GT4 Germany race starts at 15:35 and will be streamed live at adac.de/motorsport, ServusTV On, Joyn, sport1.de and youtube.com/adacmotorsports .
