The final two races of this season’s ADAC GT4 Germany at the Hockenheimring promise to deliver pure drama. The two qualifying sessions were back to back on Saturday lunchtime, with Porsche emerging as the big winners. Lachlan Robinson (22/AUS), at the wheel of a 718 Cayman GT4, set a time of 1:56.024 minutes to secure pole position for AVIA W&S Motorsport in the Saturday race.

“The team did another outstanding job and kept an excellent overview of what was happening, to ensure we switched to wet-weather tyres at exactly the right time,” said Robinson, who lines up together with Oskar Lind Kristensen (19/DNK). “It was not easy to get the timing right out on the track, as it kept starting to rain during the session. Everything came together on my final flying lap, and I am thrilled with the result. We obviously want to stay out in front and claim our next victory in the race.”

Second place in the opening qualifying session, 0.063 seconds off the pole time, went to ADAC Stiftung Sport driver Thomas Rackl (17/Berching), who shares an ME Motorsport BMW M4 GT4 with Linus Hahne (21/Oelde). In third place were Raphael Rennhofer (18/AUT) and Emil Heyerdahl (23/NOR, both Wimmer Werk Motorsport), whose Porsche missed out on pole position by 0.132 seconds. Fellow Porsche drivers Hendrik Still (38/Kempenich) and Philipp Gogollok (19/Bad Homburg, both AVIA W&S Motorsport) were fourth fastest.

Better was to come for Still and Gogollok in the second qualifying. Gogollok’s time of 1:55.390 minutes was enough to secure pole position for race two. “That came at exactly the right time. Fourth place and pole mean we can possibly get rejoin the title race. We will do our best,” said Gogollok. “Everything went superbly out on the track. I had hoped for rain, as I particularly enjoy driving in those conditions.”

In second place was the Porsche of team-mates Robinson and Kristensen, with the Dane missing out on pole position by 0.262 seconds. Rennhofer and Heyerdahl were third, 0.449 seconds off the pace, followed by Rackl and Hahne in the BMW.

Championship leaders Enrico Förderer (18/Leuterod) and Jay Mo Härtling (22/Sprockhövel, both SR Motorsport by Schnitzelalm) ended qualifying in sixth and twelfth place. They could wrap up the title in Saturday’s race, which starts at 17:20 and will be streamed live at adac.de/motorsport, ServusTV On, Joyn, sport1.de and youtube.com/adacmotorsports.
