Top time for Porsche in FP1

Raphael Rennhofer was unbeatable in the opening free practice session of the ADAC GT4 Germany finale at the Hockenheimring. It was a strong performance all round from Porsche, with four cars in the top five.

The final weekend of the 2025 ADAC GT4 Germany season is up and running – and local manufacturer Porsche was in ominous form in Free Practice 1 at the Hockenheimring. The fastest time of 1:46.522 minutes came courtesy of Raphael Rennhofer (18/AUT) from Wimmer Werk Motorsport in a 718 Cayman GT4. “It was a solid start to the weekend. The car feels good. We have always gone really well in Hockenheim in the past,” said Rennhofer, who shares a cockpit with Emil Heyerdahl (23/NOR).

Rennhofer had an advantage of 0.798 seconds over the opposition, which could be partly down to the fact that he was on a fresh set of tyres. “You cannot read too much into the result,” he explained. “Everyone has their own tyre plan, and we wanted to get a feel for qualifying. Only then will we know everyone’s real strength.”

Second place went to fellow Porsche racers Denny Berndt (20/Berlin) and Max Rosam (20/Taunusstein, both Razoon - more than Racing), ahead of Hendrik Still (38/Kempenich) and Philipp Gogollok (19/Bad Homburg, both AVIA W&S Motorsport), who were 0.818 seconds off the fastest time in another Porsche. The best-placed BMW, 0.877 seconds slower than Rennhofer, was the M4 GT4 of Linus Hahne (21/Oelde) and ADAC Stiftung Sport driver Thomas Rackl (17/Berching, both ME Motorsport).

Rounding out the top five was the Porsche of Oskar Lind Kristensen (19/DNK) and Lachlan Robinson (22/AUS, both AVIA W&S Motorsport). Next up for the ADAC GT4 Germany drivers on Friday is Free Practice 2. The two qualifying sessions will then take place on Saturday. “We would really like to get our first win of the season here,” says a determined Rennhofer. “We are obviously still in the title race somehow, but the leading Mercedes-AMG has a big cushion. However, second place in the championship is still in our own hands. That is the goal for the weekend.”
