The Razoon – xAutomotive Racing duo won the PRO-AM title in ADAC GT4 Germany. Laurenz Rühl and Damon Surzyshyn shared a BMW from the Red Bull Ring to the end of the season.
A great success for Laurenz Rühl (19/Friedrichsdorf) and Damon Surzyshyn (48/CAN). At the wheel of a BMW M4 GT4, the racers from the Razoon – xAutomotive Racing team triumphed in the PRO-AM class of ADAC GT4 Germany, which was introduced in 2025 for pairings consisting of one Silver and one Bronze driver. “Winning a title is very special. You have something to show your family and your sponsors,” says Rühl, who also ended the season in third place in the Rookie competition.
Rühl and Surzyshyn only joined forces in the BMW at the penultimate race weekend at the Red Bull Ring. From that point on, they won their class in every race. “We were very competitive at the Red Bull Ring and also had excellent pace at the finale in Hockenheim,” Surzyshyn recalls. “The time with Laurenz was a lot of fun.”
Surzyshyn holds ADAC GT4 Germany in high esteem, and makes the trip from Winnipeg in Canada especially for the races. “Racetracks like the Red Bull Ring, Hockenheim and the Sachsenring are legendary and famous around the world,” he says, explaining the reasons behind his long commute. “Furthermore, the races are very clean and there are not many interruptions. The standard in the series is extremely high. The paddock has a very special energy and the fans are really very knowledgeable.”
The Canadian started out in motorsport in 2010, when he visited a racing driver school at the famous Mont-Tremblant circuit. After that, he primarily raced in Club Sport and touring car series. In 2021, he took the plunge and entered the GT4 scene. Since 2023, he has been a regular in ADAC GT4 Germany. “Despite the age difference, Damon and I get on really well,” says team-mate Rühl. “He has a North American perspective on motorsport, which is different to ours. However, that is very beneficial for me.” Surzyshyn also produces a TV show that focusses on his racing activities. The show is broadcast by big stations all over the world and has an audience of millions. In his free time, Surzyshyn enjoys mountain biking and winter sports.
Rühl acquired his racing licence in the Netherlands in 2022. In 2024, he familiarised himself with DTM race weekends in the NXT Gen Cup, after which he decided to try his hand in ADAC GT4 Germany. “Laurenz is a fantastic guy. We have a similar approach: it is important to both of us to avoid doing anything stupid and to make sure we finish the race. That ensures that we both get plenty of driving time. We also work the same way when it comes to the set-up,” says Surzyshyn. Laurenz Rühl primarily lives in London, where he studies business administration. He also owns a dental software company. His hobbies are playing Nine Men’s Morris, Sudoku, and golf.
What lies in store for the two champions in 2026 is yet to be confirmed. “ADAC GT4 Germany is the best GT4 series in the world, so it would be a dream to start in it again in 2026. However, nothing has been confirmed yet,” says Surzyshyn. Rühl feels similarly: “I like the Razoon team, the BMW and of course ADAC GT4 Germany. I am interested in lining up in this series again in 2026, as the atmosphere on the DTM platform is excellent. The paddock and fans are really impressive.”
