Denny Berndt and Max Rosam claim their first win of the season. Fellow Porsche duo Still and Gogollok back up Nürburgring triumph with another podium. Youngster Storm Gjerdrum is best rookie.
Thrilling wheel-to-wheel battles, action-packed scraps and drama right down to the final second. Saturday’s ADAC GT4 Germany race at the Sachsenring produced some dazzling entertainment – and the second Porsche victory of the 2025 season. Denny Berndt (20/Berlin) and Max Rosam (20/Taunusstein, both Razoon - more than Racing) took the chequered flag in a 718 Cayman GT4, ahead of fellow Porsche drivers Hendrik Still (38/Kempenich) and Philipp Gogollok (19/Bad Homburg, both AVIA W&S Motorsport). Their team-mates Alon Gabbay (21/ISR) and Thomas Gore (20/JAM) completed the top three.
Jan Philipp Springob (24/Olpe) had started the race from pole position in a Vantage AMR GT4 for local team COSY Racing by ESM. Having held onto first place at the start, the Aston Martin driver produced consistently fast lap times and steadily opened a commanding lead at the head of the field. By the time he had to come in for the mandatory pit stop, Springob had established a lead of over five seconds. Behind the British car, it was really kicking off. The Porsche of Still and Berndt were embroiled in a captivating battle for second place, with the experienced Still on top at first. That battle initially continued after the driver changeover, with the respective team-mates Rosam and Gogollok also refusing to give a centimetre out on the track. However, Rosam soon found a way past Gogollok.
Out in front, youngster Storm Gjerdrum (16/NOR) had taken over from Springob in the Aston Martin. As the race progressed, the two Porsche drivers constantly closed in on the Norwegian in first place. With roughly two minutes of the race remaining, Rosam eventually took advantage of a slight mistake from Gjerdrum and went on to take the win. This also meant victory in the Junior competition for him and his partner Berndt. Gogollok also overtook the Aston Martin to take second place. Gjerdrum crossed the finish line third, but was penalised after the race for causing a collision, and was consequently relegated to fifth place. Despite this, he was still able to celebrate victory in the Rookie classification.
The penalty meant third place went to Alon Gabbay (21/ISR) and Thomas Gore (20/JAM, both AVIA W&S Motorsport) in another Porsche, ahead of fellow 911 drivers Raphael Rennhofer (18/AUT) and Emil Heyerdahl (23/NOR, both Wimmer Werk Motorsport). Behind Springob and Gjerdrum, Philip Wiskirchen (21/Euskirchen) and Tim Reiter (26/Ostfildern, both ME Motorsport) took sixth place ahead of Luis Moser (17/AUT) and Victor Nielsen (18/DNK, both Razoon - xAutomotive Racing), and the pairing of Niels Tröger (22/Dresden) and Andreas Jochimsen (27/DNK, both FK Performance Motorsport, all BMW). Hugo Sasse (21/Aschersleben) and Roman Fellner-Feldegg (23/Landsberg am Lech, both Prosport Racing) came home ninth in their Aston Martin. Rounding out the top ten were Porsche racers Oskar Lind Kristensen (19/DNK) and Lachlan Robinson (21/AUS, both AVIA W&S Motorsport). Championship leaders Enrico Förderer (18/Leuterod) and Jay Mo Härtling (22/Sprockhövel, both SR Motorsport by Schnitzelalm) were forced to retire from the race after a collision in their Mercedes-AMG.
Denny Berndt – winner for Razoon - more than Racing “The race obviously went superbly for us. The car felt very good in my half of the race. I am happy with my start, after which I was able to consistently put pressure on Hendrik Still. Max then did everything perfectly and promptly overtook the Porsche. We are thrilled with the win.”
Max Rosam – winner for Razoon - more than Racing “After the stop I immediately spotted a gap and was able to overtake Philipp Gogollok’s Porsche. I then closed in on the Aston Martin lap by lap. I took my time a little with the overtake. We are now right in the thick of the title race. That was the main goal, right from the start of the season.”
Hendrik Still – second place for AVIA W&S Motorsport “I immediately had good pace after the start. I am super happy with second place. After winning a fortnight ago at the Nürburgring, this was another step towards the title. We will continue to push. The Sachsenring has always been good to me. It was here that I celebrated my maiden victory in ADAC GT4 Germany in 2021.”
Philipp Gogollok – second place for AVIA W&S Motorsport “Second place was the best we could manage today. The race was really tricky. Hendrik did a super job. The result is obviously good for our title ambitions. We want to finish on the podium again tomorrow.”
