Porsche sets early pace in Free Practice 1

Alon Gabbay was unbeatable in the first free practice session in ADAC GT4 Germany at the Norisring. The AVIA W&S Motorsport driver finished ahead of three fellow Porsche racers and a Mercedes-AMG.

The second race weekend of the 2025 ADAC GT4 Germany season is up and running: the first free practice session at the legendary Norisring in Nuremberg took place on Friday morning – and it was Porsche who led the way. The fastest time of 53.860 seconds came courtesy of Alon Gabbay (21/ISR) in a Porsche run by AVIA W&S Motorsport. “I am obviously very happy with the result. It is great to be back driving at the Norisring, as I really like the circuit,” said Gabbay, who shares the car with Thomas Gore (20/JAM). “Last year I had my first top-three result in qualifying here. Hopefully we can do that again this year.”

“My fastest lap went really well. There was no traffic, so I had a clear track. However, the grip level was still pretty low. As a result, the times are sure to improve over the course of the race weekend,” Gabbay adds. His team-mate Gore is also optimistic. “This is my first time at the Norisring, as we missed last year’s event due to a switch of team,” explains the Jamaican. “The circuit is totally cool. AVIA W&S Motorsport looked good here in 2024. The goal for the weekend is a podium – or even a race win.”

In second place, just 0.071 seconds off the fastest time, were their team-mates Hendrik Still (37/Kempenich) and Philipp Gogollok (19/Bad Homburg). Third place also went to an AVIA W&S Motorsport Porsche: Oskar Lind Kristensen (19/DNK) and Lachlan Robinson (21/AUS) were 0.080 seconds off the time set by Gabbay.

Raphael Rennhofer (18/AUT) and Emil Heyerdahl (22/NOR, both Wimmer Werk Motorsport) were fourth in another Porsche, 0.177 seconds slower than Gabbay. Rounding out the top five were Cedric Fuchs (19/Holzappel) and Joel Mesch (20/Erkelenz, both SR Motorsport by Schnitzelalm) in the best-placed Mercedes-AMG GT4. The action comes thick and fast in ADAC GT4 Germany at the Norisring on Friday. Next up at 13:10 is the second free practice session, before qualifying for the Sunday race gets underway at 16:50.
