The Sachsenring is all set for the grand return of ADAC GT4 Germany. The 3.645-kilometre circuit near Chemnitz is one of the absolute favourites among the drivers – and, after a year away, the series is back at the spectacular, undulating track. In the meantime, the title race in the junior series continues to heat up, and the competitors are hungry to score valuable points at round four of the season. Tickets for the race weekend start at € 49 and are available at dtm.com. Anyone unable to watch at the circuit can follow the action via a livestream atadac.de/motorsport, ServusTV On, Joyn, sport1.de and youtube.com/adacmotorsports. Sky Sport Mix is showing full replays of Saturday’s race from 19:30 and the Sunday race from 21:30. Sport1 will broadcast live on free-to-air TV from 15:00 on Sunday.

Enrico Förderer (18/Leuterod) and Jay Mo Härtling (22/Sprockhövel, both SR Motorsport by Schnitzelalm) continue to lead the Drivers’ Championship, having racked up four wins and a further podium in the first six races. However, hot on the heels of the Mercedes-AMG GT4 duo are Gabriele Piana (38/ITA) and Berkay Besler (25/TUR, both FK Performance Motorsport), who claimed their first victory of the season in the BMW M4 GT4 last time out at the Nürburgring. Third-placed Raphael Rennhofer (18/AUT) and Emil Heyerdahl (23/NOR, both Wimmer Werk Motorsport, Porsche 718 Cayman GT4) are also within striking distance. Furthermore, Linus Hahne (21/Oelde) and ADAC Stiftung Sport driver Thomas Rackl (17/Berching, both ME Motorsport, BMW) also have high hopes ahead of the Sachsenring weekend.

For Niels Tröger (22/Dresden), who shares a BMW with Andreas Jochimsen (27/DNK, both FK Performance Motorsport), it is a big home event. “With the Sachsenring not featuring on the ADAC GT4 Germany calendar in 2024, I am looking forward more than ever to my first race weekend there. Many friends and sponsors will be there. The atmosphere at the Sachsenring is always super, the fans in the region are extremely enthusiastic about motorsport,” says Tröger. “I took a normal road car onto the track on Monday, to get used to the lines and ensure I am as well prepared as possible for my home outing. The circuit is just great fun. It is a bit like being on a rollercoaster. The dream for the weekend is my first podium.”

COSY Racing by ESM is based just a few kilometres from the Sachsenring. The team from Crimmitschau runs an Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 for Jan Philipp Springob (24/Olpe) and Storm Gjerdrum (16/NOR). “Everyone in the team is looking forward to the Sachsenring, and there are naturally going to be a lot of guests there,” says Springob. “We spent two days testing at the Sachsenring last week, and worked out a good set-up. As such, I think we have a good chance of challenging at the front. The circuit is excellent. The triple left-hander uphill is particularly breath-taking. It is one of the fastest sections of the whole season and always produces super action,” says the 24-year-old, looking forward to the coming race weekend.

First up for the drivers are the two free practice sessions on Friday. They then return to the track at 09:45 on Saturday morning for the two qualifying sessions, which will determine the grid positions for Saturday and Sunday. The opening race gets underway at 15:35 on Saturday. Sunday’s ADAC GT4 Germany race starts at the earlier time of 15:15.
