Mercedes-AMG opens race weekend with fastest time

Championship leader Jay Mo Härtling put together the fastest lap of the opening free practice session in ADAC GT4 Germany at the Red Bull Ring. Mercedes-AMG was joined in the top four by Porsche and Aston Martin.

The penultimate race weekend of the 2025 ADAC GT4 Germany season is up and running. The first free practice at the Red Bull Ring took place on Friday morning, and there was no beating Jay Mo Härtling (22/Sprockhövel) from SR Motorsport by Schnitzelalm in a Mercedes-AMG GT4. “It is obviously great to start the weekend this way. The car was very good. Everything came together on that one lap,” said Härtling, pleased with his time of 1:36.877 minutes.

Härtling shares the car with his usual partner Enrico Förderer (18/Leuterod). The Mercedes-AMG duo currently leads the Drivers’ Championship in ADAC GT4 Germany. “We want to score as many points as possible this weekend, ideally with two podiums,” Härtling added. “I really like the Red Bull Ring. I was here two years ago as a mechanic, but this is my first time as a driver.”

Second place, 0.127 seconds behind Härtling, went to the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 of Hendrik Still (38/Kempenich) and Philipp Gogollok (19/Bad Homburg, both AVIA W&S Motorsport). They were followed in third place by their team-mates Oskar Lind Kristensen (19/DNK) and Lachlan Robinson (22/AUS), who missed out on top spot by 0.148 seconds.

The third manufacturer in the top four was Aston Martin. Jan Philipp Springob (24/Olpe) and youngster Storm Gjerdrum (16/NOR, both COSY Racing by ESM) were 0.241 seconds off Härtling’s time in a Vantage AMR GT4. Raphael Rennhofer (18/AUT) and Emil Heyerdahl (23/NOR) were fifth in a Porsche run by local team Wimmer Werk Motorsport.

Next up for ADAC GT4 Germany at the Red Bull Ring is Free Practice 2 on Friday afternoon. The lights go green at 13:20.
