Mercedes-AMG leads the way in second free practice

There was no beating Cedric Fuchs in Free Practice 2 in ADAC GT4 Germany at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. Behind his Mercedes-AMG, four Porsche made up the top five.

The first day of practice is over at the opening round of this season’s ADAC GT4 Germany at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben – and the field is looking very evenly matched. The fastest time in FP2 came courtesy of Cedric Fuchs (19/Holzappel) from the SR Motorsport by Schitzelalm team, who stopped the clock at 1:30.807 minutes at the wheel of a Mercedes-AMG GT4. “I am thrilled with this result. We prepared meticulously over the winter. The whole team did an excellent job and I was able to put everything together out on the track,” said Fuchs, who shares the car with Joel Mesch (20/Erkelenz). “I am basically happy with my lap. I came across a bit of traffic in sector two, which perhaps cost me two or three tenths of a second. We will have to wait until Saturday to really see how we compare to the opposition.”

Fuchs is making his ADAC GT4 Germany debut in Oschersleben. “I really like the series. The field is very international and extremely strong. The whole paddock in the DTM environment is highly professional,” Fuchs continued. Second place in Free Practice 2 went to the Porsche of Denny Berndt (20/Berlin) and Max Rosam (20/Taunusstein, both Razoon – more than Racing), who were 0.126 seconds slower. They were followed in third place by Oskar Lind Kristensen (19/DNK) and Lachlan Robinson (21/AUS, both AVIA W&S Motorsport), who missed out on top spot by 0.180 seconds. Their team-mates Hendrik Still (37/Kempenich) and Philipp Gogollok (19/Bad Homburg, all Porsche) were fourth fastest, 0.188 seconds behind Fuchs. Rounding out the top five were Daniel Drexel (24/AUT) and Luca Link (21/Günzburg, both Razoon - more than Racing) in another Porsche.

The fastest time of the day did not actually come in the second free practice, but in the morning session, when track temperatures were a little lower. Hendrik Still from AVIA W&S Motorsport clocked a time of 1:30.540 minutes in a Porsche – a good 0.25 seconds faster than Mercedes-AMG GT4 driver Fuchs in the afternoon.

Next up for the ADAC GT4 Germany drivers is qualifying at 09:55 on Saturday. This is followed at 15:10 by the opening race of the season. The race will be streamed live on adac.de/motorsport, ServusTV On, Joyn, sport1.de and youtube.com/adacmotorsports.
