Nephew of Le Mans legend Tom Kristensen wins in ADAC GT4 Germany. Team-mates Alon Gabbay and Thomas Gore are runners-up, as on Saturday. Enrico Förderer and Jay Mo Härtling lead championship ahead of finale in Hockenheim.
The Red Bull Ring was firmly in Porsche hands in ADAC GT4 Germany. Lachlan Robinson (22/AUS) and Oskar Lind Kristensen (19/DNK, both AVIA W&S Motorsport), the nephew of ‘Mr. Le Mans’ Tom Kristensen, led home a Porsche one-two in Sunday’s race. This comes one day after two 718 Cayman GT4 also crossed the finish line in the top two positions in the Saturday race. Their team-mates Alon Gabbay (21/ISR) and Thomas Gore (20/JAM) repeated yesterday’s result and finished runner-up. Joining them on the podium were Enrico Förderer (18/Leuterod) and Jay Mo Härtling (22/Sprockhövel, both SR Motorsport by Schnitzelalm) in a Mercedes-AMG GT4, who were able to extend their lead at the top of the table ahead of the season finale at the Hockenheimring.
Härtling started the race from pole position, but only led for a short time. The driver of the opening laps was undoubtedly Kristensen, who stormed into the lead from fourth on the grid. Fellow Porsche drivers Gabbay and Raphael Rennhofer (18/AUT, Wimmer Werk Motorsport) initially slotted in behind him. Härtling ended the first part of the race in fourth place. After the driver changeover, his partner Förderer made quick work of overtaking Rennhofer’s team-mate Emil Heyerdahl (23/NOR) to take third place.
Out in front, Robinson, who had taken over from Kristensen, was able to consistently extend his lead. He eventually took the chequered flag with an advantage of over eight seconds. The win also meant victory in the Junior competition for both drivers. Förderer managed to close the gap to Thomas Gore, who replaced Gabbay behind the wheel, but was unable to overtake the Jamaican.
Behind the fourth-placed duo of Rennhofer and Heyerdahl were yesterday’s winners Hendrik Still (38/Kempenich) and Philipp Gogollok (19/Bad Homburg, both AVIA W&S Motorsport) in fifth, ahead of Luciano Schneider (18/Wannweil) and Maximilian Schreyer (16/Marburg, both also AVIA W&S Motorsport). That was good enough for Schreyer to celebrate victory in the Rookie classification. Seventh place went to Linus Hahne (21/Oelde) and ADAC Stiftung Sport driver Thomas Rackl (17/Berching, both ME Motorsport) in a BMW M4 GT4, ahead of another BMW driven by Niels Tröger (22/Dresden) and Andreas Jochimsen (27/DNK, both FK Performance Motorsport). Oskar Dix (19/GBR) und Egor Litvinenko (20, both Wimmer Werk Motorsport) came home ninth in a Porsche. Completing the top ten were the Mercedes-AMG duo of Alex Connor (21/GBR) and Julien Apothéloz (24/CHE, both BWT Mücke Motorsport).
Lachlan Robinson – winner for AVIA W&S Motorsport: “We are incredibly pleased with our performance. Oskar and I have had fantastic pace all weekend. I cannot thank AVIA W&S Motorsport enough for their hard work. Somehow, everything came together this weekend. Oskar set it up nicely in the first stint and handed the Porsche over to me in the lead. I just had to bring the car home.”
Oskar Lind Kristensen – winner for AVIA W&S Motorsport: “I had a super start and soon found myself in the lead. We just had an unbelievably good car with loads of speed today. Thank you to the whole team and everyone in the background – and to Lachlan, who had awesome pace all weekend.”
Alon Gabbay – second place for AVIA W&A Motorsport: “We made it onto the podium twice this weekend, which I am very pleased about. We would obviously have liked to have won, but that’s the way it goes sometimes. Thomas defended well in the second stint. We want to back up this performance in Hockenheim.”
Thomas Gore – second place for AVIA W&A Motorsport: “I am really very happy with second place. We were well behind the leaders, and I knew that the Mercedes-AMG would be strong in the second part of the race. With that in mind, I drove consistently to secure second place. It got a bit tense again in the closing stages, but everything worked out well in the end. Thank you to everyone who watched the race and supported me in Jamaica.”
Jay Mo Härtling – third place for SR Motorsport by Schnitzelalm: “All good – we are happy. We struggled a bit at the start of the race, as the Porsche were really strong, particularly on the straights. We ultimately ended the race in third place. Enrico drove a super stint and the team’s strategy was excellent. We could not have hoped for more.”
Enrico Förderer – third place for SR Motorsport by Schnitzelalm: “I am relieved that we scored some good points. However, third place is not what we came here for. Having said that, we got as much as possible out of the race. We now head to the finale in Hockenheim as championship leaders. Despite this, we will not relax. Instead, we will work even harder and longer to make sure we win that title.”
