Local favourite Hendrik Still on top in Free Practice 2

The AVIA W&S Motorsport driver set the fastest time in the second free practice in ADAC GT4 Germany at the Nürburgring. The field is evenly matched, with four manufacturers in the top four.

Free Practice 2 in ADAC GT4 Germany at the Nürburgring was an extremely exciting affair. After roughly an hour’s track time, the top five cars were separated by less than 0.15 seconds. The fastest man was Hendrik Still (38/Kempenich), who shares a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 with Philipp Gogollok (19/Bad Homburg, both AVIA W&S Motorsport). “We are obviously thrilled with the fastest lap,” said Still, referring to his time of 1:33.394 minutes. “However, it was ultimately just a free practice session and everyone was on used tyres. With that in mind, we cannot read too much into the result.” Still’s time was not the fastest of the day. The morning’s opening practice session saw Jan Philipp Springob (24/Olpe) stop the clock at 1:32.924 minutes at the wheel of a Vantage AMR GT4 Evo for COSY Racing by ESM.

Marek Böckmann (28/Lautersheim) and Anton Paul Abée (28/Hamburg, both Prosport Racing) were second fastest in a very close FP2. They were just 0.003 seconds off Still’s time in another Aston Martin. Third place went to Gabriele Piana (38/ITA) and Berkay Besler (25/TUR, both FK Performance Motorsport), who were 0.119 seconds off the top time in their BMW M4 GT4. They were followed in fourth place by championship leaders Enrico Förderer (18/Leuterod) and Jay Mo Härtling (22/Sprockhövel, both SR Motorsport by Schnitzelalm) in a Mercedes-AMG.

Completing the top five in a BMW were Niels Tröger (22/Dresden) and Andreas Jochimsen (27/DNK, both FK Performance Motorsport), who finished with the same time as the Schnitzelalm duo. The next ADAC GT4 Germany session at the Nürburgring is qualifying for race one, which takes place at 09:05 on Saturday. “For one lap, we are very fast here with our Porsche. As such, pole position is naturally the main goal. I started from pole here last year,” said Still. “We must then wait and see how we go in the race. I think we are lacking a little race pace compared to the BMW and Mercedes-AMG.”
