The SR Motorsport by Schnitzelalm driver set the fastest time in qualifying for Saturday’s ADAC GT4 Germany race at the Nürburgring. Local favourite Hendrik Still starts from second on the grid.
ADAC GT4 Germany served up some thrilling qualifying action at the Nürburgring: after 15 captivating minutes, it was championship leader Jay Mo Härtling (22/Sprockhövel) in a Mercedes-AMG GT4 who came out on top for SR Motorsport by Schnitzelalm. “Everything just came together at the right moment. It is extremely close at the top of the ADAC GT4 Germany field, but we put everything together for that one lap. Thank you to the team for the awesome car,” said Härtling, who lines up alongside Enrico Förderer (18/Leuterod) and stopped the clock at 1:31.769 minutes.
The result is particularly special for his team SR Motorsport by Schnitzelalm, as the team prepares the cars in nearby Niederzissen. “This is a home event for us, so we want to do as well as possible here. In recent years, we have gained a lot of experience at the Nürburgring. That will certainly stand us in good stead,” Härtling continued.
Just 0.146 seconds back in second place was Hendrik Still (38/Kempenich), who shares a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 with Philipp Gogollok (19/Bad Homburg) and lines up for AVIA W&S Motorsport. The race weekend in the Eifel region is also a home outing for Still. He lives just a few kilometres from the Nürburgring and knows the iconic circuit inside out.
Aston Martin brought plenty of British flair to qualifying, occupying positions three to five. Guest starters Jan Philipp Springob (24/Olpe) and Storm Gjerdrum (16/NOR, both COSY Racing by ESM) were third, 0.204 seconds off Härtling’s time. They start just ahead of the Vantage AMR GT4 of Hugo Sasse (21/Aschersleben) and Roman Fellner-Feldegg (23/Landsberg am Lech, both Prosport Racing), who ended the session 0.421 seconds off the pole time. Rounding out the top five were their team-mates Marek Böckmann (28/Lautersheim) and Anton Paul Abée (28/Hamburg, both Prosport Racing).
Saturday’s ADAC GT4 Germany race at the Nürburgring gets underway at 16:10 and will be shown live on television on Sky Sport Mix. The action is also available in a livestream at adac.de/motorsport, ServusTV On, Joyn, sport1.de and youtube.com/adacmotorsports “In the race, it will initially be important to get a good start and keep the car in good shape,” says pole-sitter Härtling, looking ahead. “We will obviously be going all out for the win. However, with the field so evenly matched at the moment, it will not be easy. With a strong driver like Hendrik Still breathing down my neck, I have a big task ahead of me.”
