Hugo Sasse to start race one from pole

The Prosport Racing driver set the fastest time in qualifying for the opening ADAC GT4 Germany race of the season at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. Three different manufacturers in the top four.

Hugo Sasse (21/Aschersleben) was the cream of the crop in qualifying for Saturday’s ADAC GT4 Germany race in Oschersleben. The Prosport Racing driver’s time of 1:28.820 minutes at the wheel of an Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 was the fastest at the 3.667-kilometre circuit. This is Sasse’s seventh pole position in the ADAC’s sports car series, and his first in Oschersleben. “I am very happy with this result at my home event. It could not really have gone any better,” said local favourite Sasse, who shares the Aston Martin with Roman Fellner-Feldegg (22/Landsberg am Lech). I am obviously really looking forward to the race now. We will definitely be aiming to finish on the podium.”

“The two free practices on Friday actually went really well for us too. The new Pirelli tyre is working very well on our Aston Martin,” Sasse continued. Second place, 0.150 seconds slower, went to the Mercedes-AMG GT4 of Enrico Förderer (18/Leuterod) and Jay Mo Härtling (22/Sprockhövel, both SR Motorsport by Schnitzelalm), with Förderer at the wheel for qualifying.

They were followed by the second Mercedes-AMG belonging to SR Motorsport by Schnitzelalm, with the pairing of Cedric Fuchs (19/Holzappel) and Joel Mesch (20/Erkelenz, both SR Motorsport by Schnitzelalm). Mesch was in the driving seat for qualifying and ended the session 0.433 seconds off Sasse’s pole-setting time. Fourth place went to the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS of Raphael Rennhofer (18/AUT) and Emil Heyerdahl (22/NOR, both Wimmer Werk Motorsport), 0.794 seconds off top spot. As such, the top four consisted of cars from three different manufacturers.

Hendrik Still (37/Kempenich) and Philipp Gogollok (19/Bad Homburg, both AVIA W&S Motorsport) completed the top five in another Porsche. Saturday’s ADAC GT4 Germany race in Oschersleben gets underway at 15:10 and will be broadcast live on adac.de/motorsport, ServusTV On, Joyn, sport1.de and youtube.com/adacmotorsports.
