Home outing for Raphael Rennhofer at the Red Bull Ring

Austrian Rennhofer lines up for Wimmer Werk Motorsport in ADAC GT4 Germany in 2025. He and team-mate Emil Heyerdahl currently lie third in the table.

When ADAC GT4 Germany visits the Red Bull Ring for the fifth race weekend of the 2025 season from 12th to 14th September, young Austrian Raphael Rennhofer (18, Wimmer Werk Motorsport) can look forward to racing at his home event for the first time. “It’s unbelievable but true – although I don’t live far from the circuit, I have actually never driven a race car at the Red Bull Ring,” Rennhofer explains. “The short journey means my friends and acquaintances will also visit me at the racetrack. As a rule, we Austrians always have to travel a bit further to get to the other circuits.”

Rennhofer wants to put on a great show for his fans at the Red Bull Ring, and to give them something to cheer with some strong results. Together with team-mate Emil Heyerdahl (23/NOR), he finds himself in a promising position in the title race. After two podiums and a further two top-four finishes, the duo in the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 duo currently lies third in the Drivers’ Championship. “The title is definitely the main goal for the season,” Rennhofer makes clear. “We also really want to win a race too this year. It would be all the nicer if we could pull that off at the Red Bull Ring.”

Rennhofer’s career started in karting, but he soon focussed his attention on sim racing. “It was only through sim racing that I got to know people who put me in a real racing car,” he recalls. “I then did my first GT4 test with Prosport Racing in June 2023. Immediately after that, I attended my first ADAC GT4 Germany race weekend at the Nürburgring, before ending the season in that series.”

In 2024, Rennhofer initially put pedal to the metal in the GT4 European Series, before also making a guest appearance in the ADAC GT Masters alongside Hugo Sasse. That same duo lined up at the season finale in ADAC GT4 Germany at the Hockenheimring – and with great success: Rennhofer and Sasse promptly won the Saturday race and finished runner-up on the Sunday. “ADAC GT4 Germany is the perfect series, in which to gain experience and develop. Plus, you can showcase your talent on the DTM stage,” says Rennhofer. The Austrian also made a guest start in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland and lined up on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife at the start of 2025.

As well as motorsport at the racetrack, Rennhofer has also remained active on the sim racing scene. Up until the summer of 2025, he was also still attending school and took his Matura (the Austrian equivalent of A-levels). “My dream is obviously to make a living from motorsport and spend as many days as possible at the racetrack,” says Rennhofer. “My career goal is to be a works driver on the GT racing scene.”
