Förderer/Härtling: An interview with the championship leaders

Enrico Förderer and Jay Mo Härtling enjoyed a perfect race weekend at the opening round of this season’s ADAC GT4 Germany at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. The duo from SR Motorsport by Schnitzelalm leads the Drivers Championship thanks to two victories.

One thing is certain: the opening round of this season’s ADAC GT4 Germany was very much to the liking of Enrico Förderer (18/Leuterod) and Jay Mo Härtling (22/Sprockhövel). The two SR Motorsport by Schnitzelalm drivers won both races in a Mercedes-AMG GT4 – and on their debut in the ADAC’s spectacular sports car series. In an interview with the pair, the two youngsters look back on the race weekend and offer a glimpse behind the scenes.

A few days have now passed since Oschersleben, and you have had time to let it all sink in a little. How would you sum up the season opener? Förderer: “Oschersleben was quite simply fantastic and captivating. There was definitely a lot of celebrating in the days that followed. I obviously did not expect it to immediately work out so perfectly, and for us to win everything at the first attempt.”

Härtling: “I look back extremely positively, both on the event itself and our performance as a team. The goal was obviously to be among the front-runners from the word go. The success meant we obviously had a lot of fun in Oschersleben. That is going to be hard to beat.”

What makes ADAC GT4 Germany so special as a racing series? Förderer: “The number of different manufacturers and the field of drivers are excellent. There are a lot of young drivers, but also some really experienced racers. As such, the standard of competition is extremely high.”

Härtling: “It is undoubtedly a super racing series for young drivers. The DTM platform is a very big stage to race on. Appearing in front of so many spectators gives you extra motivation. Given all that, ADAC GT4 Germany is a good start for a good career.”

How did you find your way into ADAC GT4 Germany? Förderer: “I started out in karting when I was six, and was soon winning lots of races. I first sat in a GT4 car in 2023. Since an initial test, I have always driven for Schnitzelalm. In 2024, we won the GTC Race title. Now we are stepping up to ADAC GT4 Germany.”

Härtling: “In my case, it started with a rented kart when I was nine. I started taking it really seriously at 14 or 15, when I focussed on motorsport and told myself that this was the road I wanted to go down. I have been driving for Schnitzelalm since 2021 – on the Nordschleife at first. I have been in the GT4 since the start of 2023, and have also been racing in GT3 since 2024.”

Do you have any other projects outside of motorsport? Förderer: “I am currently doing my school leaving examinations. I am also self-employed and have a car detailing business. As such, I don’t have time for any other hobbies at the moment.”

Härtling: “For me, it is all motorsport. I not only drive for Schnitzelalm, but also work as a mechanic and do the foiling for the team. For example, I also prepare the Mercedes-AMG GT4 for ADAC GT4 Germany. Motorsport is my life.”

There are still five race weekends to come in ADAC GT4 Germany. What are your goals for the rest of the season? Förderer: “The goal for the entire team is always to win. However, we are also well aware that this is not always possible. You cannot take what happened in Oschersleben for granted. However, we are working hard as a team and giving it our all. My personal goal is to win the 2025 ADAC GT4 Germany title.”

Härtling: “We obviously want to continue as we started in Oschersleben. If we are able to maintain that performance all season, then the title is the main goal.”
