The ADAC GT4 Germany gets the second half of the 2025 season underway at the Sachsenring. Here are some thrilling stories and background information straight from the paddock.
Champion on site: Finn Zulauf won the ADAC GT4 Germany title last year. In 2025 he is competing in the ADAC GT Masters. Zulauf returned to the GT4 paddock for the first time at the Sachsenring. “It felt like coming home,” Zulauf recounted. “I coached AVIA W&S Motorsport driver Luciano Schneider at the Sachsenring. He has made fantastic progress, and it was great fun with him. At the next two race weekends at the Red Bull Ring and the Hockenheimring I will be on site anyway with the ADAC GT Masters. We’ll mainly be working together on the Thursdays then.”
Birthday twins: Two drivers celebrated their birthday on the race Saturday. Gabriele Piana (ITA, FK Performance Motorsport) turned 39 and Axel Bengtsson (SWE, BWT Mücke Motorsport) turned 25. “Obviously, as a racing driver it is great to be able to spend your birthday at the racetrack,” said Bengtsson. “Celebrating with the whole team was very special.”
First victory in a car: Linus Hahne (21/Oelde) and ADAC Sports Foundation sponsored driver Thomas Rackl (17/Berching, both ME Motorsport) won the Junior classification in the BMW M4 GT4 on Sunday. “It was actually my first ever race win in a car,” said a beaming Rackl. “The Junior classification is important for us as young drivers. I would have loved to win the race in the overall standings as well – especially as I was in the lead for much of the race.”
First time racing: Rick Bouthoorn (20/NLD) made his ADAC GT4 Germany race debut alongside Laurenz Rühl (19/Friedrichsdorf, both Razoon - xAutomotive Racing) – but not his series debut. In 2022 he represented the Austrian team in the official test drives in Oschersleben. “The ADAC GT4 Germany is fantastic. The racing is very clean and fair,” said Bouthoorn. “The series has a great international reputation. There is strong competition and the organisation is perfect. I enjoyed driving here.”
Rookie winner: In Sunday’s race Cedric Fuchs (19/Holzappel) celebrated his third win of the season in the Rookie classification. The SR Motorsport by Schnitzelalm driver is also top of the table. “The Rookie classification is perfect for drivers like me who have come from the ADAC Touring Cars Junior Cup, for example, and are now taking the next step,” explained Fuchs. “You can learn a lot and it’s great that your achievements as a rookie are recognised. The Rookie title is my main goal this year.”
Home events: COSY Racing by ESM had the shortest journey to the Sachsenring. The team comes from Crimmitschau in the district of Zwickau. “We have a great relationship with the Sachsenring. It’s an amazing track that also suits our Aston Martin,” explained team manager Virginia Möckl. “Even though it isn’t far from home, we sleep in the truck anyway. That always saves us a lot of time in the morning and evening.” FK Performance Motorsport driver Niels Tröger (22) also enjoyed a home event. Tröger lives in Dresden these days but hails from near Plauen. “A lot of my family and friends visited me at the Sachsenring – for example, from the kart track in Mülsen, which is only about ten kilometres away,” said a happy Tröger. “The region is mad about motorsport. The paddock was packed. Lots of fans were interested in the cars and wanted to take photos. I find that fun as well.”
