EastSide Motorsport is set for a big comeback in ADAC GT4 Germany. As of the race weekend at the Nürburgring, the successful team from Crimmitschau in Saxony will line up at all of this season’s remaining races, and will add even more British flair to the series with an Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 Evo. “We are obviously delighted to be back racing in ADAC GT4 Germany,” says team manager Virginia Möckl. “We know the series well and feel right at home on the platform. The highlight will definitely be our home event at the Sachsenring at the end of August.”

The Aston Martin will run under the team name “COSY Racing by ESM”, with the COSY referring to an IT company dealing with data security. The two drivers have already been confirmed, with the team looking to a mix of experience and youth: Jan Philipp Springob (24/Olpe) has been racing in ADAC GT4 Germany since 2019. His team-mate is 15-year-old Norwegian Storm Gjerdrum, who will be making his debut in the series. Storm’s older brother starts in the ADAC GT Masters in 2025, having spent the previous two years driving in ADAC GT4 Germany. Emil Gjerdrum teamed up with Springob for the race weekend at the Red Bull Ring in 2024.

“I am thrilled to be starting in ADAC GT4 Germany again. It naturally felt a bit strange to have to follow Oschersleben and the Norisring from the sofa. However, I am back now,” said Springob. “I have a very young team-mate in Storm Gjerdrum. We get on superbly and understand each other well. He definitely gives the impression of being older than 15, and his is very quick. I have also been very impressed with his excellent car control.”

Storm Gjerdrum’s age is one of the main reasons why the Aston Martin will be making its first appearance at the Nürburgring race weekend. “His birthday is mid-July and the minimum age for ADAC GT4 Germany is 16. As such, we are waiting until August for our first race,” explains team manager Möckl. “However, we have done some testing recently and are more than impressed by his driving ability.”

For Jan Philipp Springob, the iconic racetrack in the Eifel Mountains has been a happy hunting ground. It was here that he won two ADAC GT4 Germany races in 2023. “It would perhaps be a bit ambitious to say that we want to win from the outset,” says a cautious Springob. “However, we want to finish in the top five over the course of the season and to be looking at a place on the podium. We should definitely be capable of that.”

EastSide Motorsport has been involved in ADAC GT4 Germany since 2022. During this time, the team has won three races and finished runner-up on a further two occasions. “We are getting along very well with the Aston Martin and won the Sunday race at the Red Bull Ring with this car last year,” says Möckl. “Maybe we can achieve a similar success this year.”
