Just ten points separate the top two duos. Three local favourites hope to wow their home crowd at the Red Bull Ring. PRO-AM driver Damon Surzyshyn returns.
The stage is set for the penultimate round of the 2025 ADAC GT4 Germany. The only round of the season outside of Germany will take place on the DTM support programme at the Red Bull Ring in Austria – and the title race is in full swing. Nestled among the Austrian countryside, the circuit not only promises fantastic images with an Alpine background, but also thrilling racing with plenty of overtaking opportunities. As well as the dramatic title race, eyes will also be on three local favourites. Tickets start at € 49 and are available at dtm.com. The ADAC GT4 Germany action will be streamed live at adac.de/motorsport, ServusTV On, Joyn, sport1.de and youtube.com/adacmotorsports. The races start at 16:25 on Saturday and the earlier time of 09:55 on Sunday. Sky Sport Mix will also show multiple full replays of the races on television.
Enrico Förderer (18/Leuterod) and Jay Mo Härtling (22/Sprockhövel, both SR Motorsport by Schnitzelalm) travel to Austria as championship leaders. The Mercedes-AMG GT4 duo could theoretically wrap up the title at the Red Bull Ring with races still to come. However, second-placed Gabriele Piana (39/ITA) and Berkay Besler (25/TUR, both FK Performance Motorsport) will have something to say about that. They trail the leaders by just ten points in their BMW M4 GT4. Piana and Besler won a race at each of the last two events at the Nürburgring and the Sachsenring. They will be hoping to back up that form at the Red Bull Ring.
Third-placed Raphael Rennhofer (18/AUT) and Emil Heyerdahl (23/NOR, both Wimmer Werk Motorsport) are also promisingly placed in the title race. The Red Bull Ring is a home event for Rennhofer, who is hoping for great things. “It will definitely be a great weekend. It is only a short journey, and many friends and family members will visit me there,” said the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 driver. “The layout suits our car, as there are a relatively large number of stop and go sections. That should give us a good chance of challenging at the front of the field. The Drivers title is still the goal, but we come into the weekend without any pressure and hope, ideally, to finish on the podium twice.”
The Red Bull Ring is also close to the heart of his compatriot and fellow Porsche driver Daniel Drexel (24/AUT, Razoon - more than Racing). “I am really looking forward to my home weekend. The fans always keep a special eye out for us Austrian drivers, and pay particular attention to us. That obviously pleases me greatly,” says Drexel, who starts alongside Luca Link (21/Günzburg). “I think the final two corners are particularly good. You first fly over the crest at great speed, then flow into the final turn. We have set ourselves the goal of a top-ten finish.”
His team, Razoon - more than Racing, certainly has the shortest commute. The team headquarters in Eggersdorf near Graz is only about an hour from the Red Bull Ring. As well as two Porsche, Domini Olbert’s outfit will also run two BMWs again, under the name Razoon - xAutomotive Racing. In Luis Moser (17/AUT), the team has another local favourite among its ranks. In the second BMW, Canadian Damon Surzyshyn (48) returns to the series at the Red Bull Ring. Also back in ADAC GT4 Germany is Britain’s Alex Connor (21), who lines up for BWT Mücke Motorsport alongside Julien Apothéloz (24/CHE) in a Mercedes-AMG.
