BWT Mücke Motorsport: A family team with a grand history

The Berlin-based team lines up with two Mercedes-AMG GT4 in ADAC GT4 Germany in 2025. BWT Mücke Motorsport has always been involved in the ADAC environment, and intends to stay true to the platform in the future.

BWT Mücke Motorsport has been putting pedal to the metal with two Mercedes-AMG GT4 in the ADAC GT4 Germany series since 2023. And with great success: the 13 race weekends so far have produced no fewer than five podiums. They include one race win, at the team’s home event at the Dekra Lausitzring in 2024. This season, they are looking to back up that success with the two pairings of Luca Bosco (21/ITA) and Julien Apothéloz (24/CHE), and Scandinavians Tobias Bille Clausen (16/DNK) and Axel Bengtsson (24/SWE). “In Tobias Bille and Axel we have a duo that is developing very well – and the pairing of Luca and Julien is experienced and yet still young. As such, I think we are extremely well set for the season ahead,” says team principal Stefan Mücke. “It is important to show a positive development over the course of the season, particularly with young drivers. We want to make it onto the podium as often as possible this season, and obviously to put ourselves in contention for the title. That begins with good and flawless work in all areas.”

The team, which has its headquarters in Berlin, has been among the cornerstones of German motorsport for decades. Peter Mücke started out in motor racing back in the 1970s, winning the European Autocross Championship on three occasions. His son Stefan soon followed him into the driver’s seat. When Stefan moved towards professional racing, Mücke Motorsport was founded in 1998, in order to contest the Formula ADAC season. The team remained true to Formula racing for many years, and also lined up in the DTM in 2005 – again with Stefan Mücke at the wheel. An outing in the ADAC GT Masters also followed later.

“I run the team together with my father,” explains Stefan Mücke. “He has stepped back a little now, but still comes into work every day and to all the race weekends. We make any major and strategic decisions together. Since I stopped racing professionally myself, I have taken over the majority of jobs involved in the day-to-day business. It is really nice to be able to run the team as a family.”

BWT Mücke Motorsport generally attends the ADAC GT4 Germany race weekends with a crew of around twelve people. “We have the advantage of working primarily with permanent employees. That is something we are very proud of, and having access to long-term personnel is something that makes us stand out a little,” Stefan Mücke continues. One reason for employing its own staff is that the team consists of multiple divisions, meaning there is sufficient work to do. “As well as ADAC GT4 Germany, we are also actively involved in historic motorsport and vintage road vehicles. Those two aspects currently make up about 50 percent of our work. Plus, we also run two LMP3 cars in the Prototype Cup Germany. As a result, our guys are busy all year and it never gets boring.”

Mücke views GT4 and LMP3 racing as an extremely promising platform for young drivers. “Both scenes are booming and make an interesting alternative for young racers. In our opinion, they have a chance to develop and progress here, with a view to possibly becoming a works driver somewhere.”

With this in mind, the outings on the DTM support programme make sense for BWT Mücke Motorsport. “The DTM platform is not only very important for us, but also for our partners,” says Mücke. “ADAC motorsport has been an inherent part of our team for decades. This is where we started out. We still feel right at home here and will continue to prioritise it in our planning. After all, German motorsport is very dear to our heart.”

That means the team will continue to race in ADAC GT4 Germany. “Our involvement in national GT4 racing is definitely a long term one. You could say it forms our basis,” says Mücke, looking ahead. “You can obviously only think one year at a time, but GT3 is definitely one area we are always keeping an eye on.”
