Danny Berndt, at the wheel of a Porsche for Razoon – more than Racing, set the fastest time of the second free practice session in ADAC GT4 Germany at the Sachsenring. BMW was also in fine form at the circuit near Chemnitz.
The first day of practice on the return of ADAC GT4 Germany to the Sachsenring drew to a close with Denny Berndt (20/Berlin) at the top of the timing sheet in the second session. The Razoon – more than Racing driver set the fastest time of 1:26.357 minutes in a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4. “It is obviously nice to end practice out in front. However, it does not really mean much looking ahead to Saturday,” said Berndt, who starts alongside Max Rosam (20/Taunusstein). “The track feels very good. However, you need a lot of feel, as each corner leads into the next. If you come to terms with that, then it is great fun here.”
“There are definitely a few things on the car that we can improve for the two races,” added team-mate Rosam. “The Sachsenring has a very varied layout with many transitions and flowing corners. I really like the whole circuit.” The fastest time of the entire day was not actually that of Berndt and Rosam. Fellow Porsche driver Lachlan Robinson (21/AUS, AVIA W&S Motorsport) had previously stopped the clock at 1:26.328 minutes in Free Practice 1 in the morning.
Second place in FP2 went to Philip Wiskirchen (21/Euskirchen) and Tim Reiter (26/Ostfildern, both ME Motorsport), who were 0.202 seconds slower in a BMW M4 GT4. Joseph Ellerine (21/ZAF) and Benjamin Sylvestersson (18/FIN, both FK Performance Motorsport) were third fastest in the session, 0.514 seconds off the top time but ahead of their team-mates Gabriele Piana (38/ITA) and Berkay Besler (25/TUR), who were 0.591 seconds slower than Berndt. Rounding out the top five were fellow BMW drivers Laurenz Rühl (19/Friedrichsdorf) and Rick Bouthoorn (20/NLD, both Razoon - xAutomotive Racing).
There is plenty of ADAC GT4 Germany action in store on Saturday. First up, from 09:45, are the two qualifying sessions. Race one then gets underway at 15:35 and will be streamed live at adac.de/motorsport, ServusTV On, Joyn, sport1.de and youtube.com/adacmotorsports.
