Alexzander Kristiansson (25/SWE, Gebhardt Intralogistics Motorsport) found himself at the top of the timings sheet for the first time in the second free practice session of the Prototype Cup Germany. The Swede is sharing a car at the Nürburgring with Oscar Tunjo (29/COL, Gebhardt Intralogistics Motorsport). Danny Soufi (22/USA) and Pavel Lefterov (27/BUL, both Konrad Motorsport), who are hoping to defend their lead in the German LMP3 series in the Eifel Mountains, were second fastest. Third place went to Mattias Bjerre Jakobsen (18/DEN) und Riccardo Leone Cirelli (17/ITA, both BWT Mücke Motorsport).
Tunjo is driving alongside Kristiansson for the first time this weekend, and had nothing but praise for the young Scandinavian. “Alex is a young racing driver, who has already developed nicely over the course of the year. And he has also done a good job here so far. I think we can achieve some really good results together.” The Columbian was generally happy with Free Practice 2. “We still have something to work on though. I think it will be a close qualifying tomorrow, with Danny and the two Mücke drivers Mattis and Mattias in my group. And I believe the races will also be exciting.”
Soufi took second place, just behind Tunjo and Kristiansson. “I did not do many laps and believe that both the car and me as the driver still have room for improvement. However, the two free practices were pretty crazy anyway, as everyone had a different strategy and a different plan with the tyres. The difference between fresh and old tyres is also really big here.” Soufi and his partner Pavel Lefterov currently lead the Drivers’ Championship in the Prototype Cup Germany. The lead over their closest rivals, Maksymilian Angelard (18/POL) and Mattis Pluschkell (21/Elmenhorst, both BWT Mücke Motorsport), stands at 34 points.
The German/Polish combination had to settle for fifth place in FP2, having been the dominant force in the first practice session. Just ahead of them in fourth place were Jacob Erlbacher (24/Böblingen) and Jérémy Siffert (22/SUI, both Badischer Motorsport Club). Sixth place, behind the two Mücke protégés, went to Sven Barth (44/Eberbach) and Maxim Dirickx (21/BEL, both Aust Motorsport), followed by Zino-Ferret Fahlke (18/Hergiswil, Konrad Motorsport), Michael Herich (48/Brühl) and Mikkel C. Johansen (38/DEN, both Gebhardt Intralogistics Motorsport), and Thomas Ambiel (45/Eppingen, Rinaldi Racing).
