Race weekend at the Dekra Lausitzring is a home event for BWT Mücke Motorsport. Zino-Ferret Fahlke makes his debut in the German LMP3 series. Both races in livestream.
Races five and six of the season see the Prototype Cup Germany line up on the DTM platform this weekend (23rd to 25th May) for the first time this year. Danny Soufi (21/USA) and Pavel Lefterov (27/BUL, both Konrad Motorsport) are out to defend their lead in the Drivers Championship within the LMP3 series, which is organised by the ADAC and Creventic. Lurking just behind them are four rapid youngsters from the BWT Mücke Motorsport team – Mattis Pluschkell (20/Elmenhorst) and Maksymilian Angelard (17/POL), and Mattias Bjerre Jakobsen (18/DEN) and Riccardo Leone Cirelli (17/ITA) – who are desperate to make life as difficult as possible for them. However, Soufi and Lefterov will receive support from a second car for the first time this season, as Zino-Ferret Fahlke (18/Hergiswil) makes his debut in the Prototype Cup Germany at the wheel of a Konrad Ligier. Valentino Catalano (19/Westheim), who had a car to himself in Hockenheim, will take his place alongside Mikkel C. Johansen (37/DEN, both Gebhardt Intralogistics Motorsport). Both races and the second qualifying session can also be followed live by spectators at youtube.com/adacmotorsports.
Soufi will be feeling good coming to the Lausitzring: driving alongside Torsten Kratz at the time, the American won twice and finished runner-up in the third race at this circuit last year. However, Cirelli also has fond memories of his first outing at the Lausitzring in 2024, when he and Julien Apothéloz also made it onto the podium in all three races. The Italian, who shares his Duqueine with Jakobsen, is now looking to close the gap to championship leaders Soufi / Lefterov and, ideally, to knock them off the top spot. The race weekend at the Lausitzring is a very special one for Cirelli and Jakobsen, as it is the home event of their team BWT Mücke Motorsport. The Berlin-based outfit is based just an hour’s drive from the Lausitzring.
Pluschkell and Angelard will also be putting pedal to the metal at their team’s home event. The two LMP3 newcomers impressed in Hockenheim, where they claimed their maiden victory. “Everything went smoothly for us there, even the Full Course Yellow helped us,” said Pluschkell, adding: “We were not gifted the win, however.” He does not have particularly good memories of the Lausitzring. “So far, I have always had bad luck there and never had any good results. As such, my goal for the weekend is finally to get a good result at the Lausitzring. To achieve that, we must put together two clean, error-free races. It would definitely be great to score as many points as possible again.” The 20-year-old has been preparing in the simulator and knows all the perils of the track in Lusatia. “The first sector is a sequence of corners; you have to get the entry just right, in order to find a good rhythm. Turn six, almost a 180-degree corner, is another key point. You hardly have any indicators here to help you hit the right braking point.”
This weekend, Pluschkell will have a new, young rival in the form of Fahlke. “I watched the Prototype Cup Germany live for the first time in 2023, and it immediately appealed. Back then, I was still racing in the ADAC Touring Car Junior Cup and contacted Franz Konrad in 2024. We then did some testing and I drove for him in both Barcelona races in the 2024/25 Prototype Winter Series. And now here I am, looking forward to my debut in the Prototype Cup Germany,” said Fahlke, who is still actively involved in karting. Gebhardt Intralogistics Motorsport has swapped places: Valentino Catalano (19/Westheim), who drove alone in Hockenheim and celebrated his comeback there as reigning champion, will now take his place alongside Mikkel C. Johansen (37/DEN) in the Duqueine. He replaces Oscar Tunjo.
