The MotoE World Cup is returning to its roots in 2023: Next season, the innovative racing series for electric motorcycles will once again feature on the support programme for the LIQUI MOLY Motorcycle Grand Prix of Germany at the Sachsenring – this time as an official FIM world championship and a new bike from Ducati. From 16th to 18th June, the iconic circuit near Chemnitz will host one of the largest sporting events in Germany in 2023, as it welcomes the elite of motorcycle racing to Saxony. Tickets for the only German round of the MotoGP World Championship are already available.

The comeback at the Sachsenring sees the FIM Enel MotoE World Championship return to the venue, at which it all began. In 2019, the first race in the history of the electric motorcycle racing series took place on the 3.671-kilometre track as part of the MotoGP race weekend. Victory, pole position and the fastest lap in the inaugural MotoE race all went to Finland’s Niki Tuuli. Come the end of the season, Matteo Ferrari from Italy was crowned the first ever MotoE champion.

In 2023, the riders in the FIM Enel MotoE World Championship will all race on a new bike from Ducati. The Ducati V21L weighs roughly 40 kilograms less than its predecessor. During tests in Mugello, the electric bike achieved a top speed of 275 km/h on the 1.1-kilometre start/finish straight.
