232,202 spectators transform the Sachsenring into a cauldron of emotion. German Grand Prix tops 230,000 fans for the second time, having also done so in 2011. Tickets already available for the Motorcycle Grand Prix in June 2023.

The Sachsenring, on the outskirts of Chemnitz, is the ultimate spectator magnet in MotoGP. Following the 20th and final world championship race of the 2022 season, in Valencia last weekend, it was confirmed that the LIQUI MOLY Motorcycle Grand Prix of Germany attracted the biggest crowd of the international MotoGP series this year. Back in June, 232,202 fans transformed the iconic circuit in Hohenstein-Ernstthal into a proper cauldron of atmosphere. “We are very proud of this result and particularly the fans, who have remained loyal to the event for many years and ensure that the LIQUI MOLY Motorcycle Grand Prix of Germany is one of the biggest sporting events in Germany,” says ADAC Sport President Dr. Gerd Ennser.

In total, 2.4 million fans attended the 20 MotoGP races that made up the 2022 season. Besides the world championship round in Germany, only one other race broke the magical mark of 200,000 spectators last season: 225,000 motorcycle fans flocked to watch the three days of the French Grand Prix in Le Mans, thanks in no small part to the presence of 2021 world champion and local favourite Fabio Quartararo.

The 232,202 spectators at the Sachsenring was also a new record for the Motorcycle Grand Prix of Germany. Only once before had the event been watched by more than 230,000 fans: in 2011, the year in which Stefan Bradl was crowned world champion, 230,133 motorbike enthusiasts lined the track. A glance into the past provides more evidence of what a crowd-puller the German round of MotoGP is. In the 15 Grands Prix held with spectators at the circuit, the 200,000 mark has been broken on twelve occasions.
