The fourth round of the ADAC MX Masters saw an eventful race day in Tensfeld. In changeable weather, several rain showers created challenging conditions. In the ADAC MX Masters, Tom Koch (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team) celebrated his first race win of the season. Nicolai Skovbjerg (DK/SixtySeven Racing Team) extended his lead in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup standings with the race win. Patriks Cirulis (LAT/Schmicker Silve Racing) came out on top in a three-way battle at the front of the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85.

ADAC MX Masters: Disaster for Max Nagl

The first race began with a narrow Red Bull holeshot by Tom Koch ahead of Noah Ludwig (GER/KTM Sarholz Racing Team), but Ludwig returned from the first lap in the lead. One lap later, Max Nagl (D/Dörr Motorsport Triumph Racing) was in the lead ahead of Roan van de Moosdijk (NL/KTM Kosak Racing Team), Koch, Ludwig and Jörgen-Matthias Talviku (EST/SHR Motorsports by Hartje). Nagl and van de Moosdijk quickly pulled away from their pursuers. On the eighth lap, Nagl collided with a fallen rider, went down, and van de Moosdijk was also unable to avoid a collision. Koch inherited the lead as a result of the incident. Van de Moosdijk resumed the race in second place ahead of Ludwig, but for Nagl, the race was over. Two laps later, the race was abandoned for medical reasons, resulting in Koch being declared the winner, followed by van de Moosdijk, Ludwig, Talviku and Kevin Brumann (CH/MX-Handel Husqvarna Racing).

“Considering all the rain that had fallen in between, the track was still in decent condition, but there were a few tricky edges. I tried to stay focused and concentrate on myself. I then had a bit of luck when Max and Roan went down. But it feels good to start the weekend with a race win,” said a delighted Koch.

ADAC MX Youngster Cup: Skovbjerg sticks to his usual pattern

Saku Mansikkamäki (FI/Schmicker Silve Racing) sprinted into the lead with the Red Bull Holeshot, ahead of Mads Fredsoe (DK/Cat Moto Bauerschmidt KTM) and Sebastian Leok (EST/MX-Handel Husqvarna Racing). Championship leader Nicolai Skovbjerg returned from the opening lap in eleventh place and thus began a chase for the lead, something that has almost become a habit this season. On the sixth lap, Skovbjerg took second place from Fredsoe and moved into the lead one lap later ahead of Mansikkamäki. Meanwhile, Fredsoe lost third place to Leok and was soon overtaken by Liam Owens to finish fifth. The win therefore went to Skovbjerg ahead of Mansikkamäki and Leok.

“I’ve been practising my starts a lot, and it’s slowly paying off. Saku defended his position well, but once I’d got past him, I was able to build up a good lead,” said Skovbjerg.

ADAC MX Junior Cup 85: A thrilling three-way battle for victory

In the first race of the youngest class, Patriks Cirulis initially took the lead with the Red Bull Holeshot, but was overtaken by Iver Emilsen (NO/KGMX Team) on the third lap. However, Cirulis stayed on the Norwegian’s tail and retook the lead five laps later. Over the next two laps, Emilsen was also overtaken by Harry Dale (GB/KTM MX Futures) and Luca Nierychlo (D/KTM MX Futures). In the closing stages of the race, the top three were bunched closely together. But Cirulis kept his nerve on his birthday and won ahead of Dale and Nierychlo. Emilsen held on to fourth place ahead of Robin Robert Mooses (EST/MX-Handel Husqvarna Racing).

“Conditions were difficult today, but I’m happy with my riding. I laid a good foundation with the pole position, then lost my rhythm a bit, but ultimately got back into my stride,” said Cirulis.
