Jörgen-Matthias Talviku comes out on top against van de Moosdijk and Haavisto. Nicolai Skovbjerg wins a closely contested race in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup. Patriks Cirulis prevails in the brothers’ duel in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85.
At the ADAC MX Masters in Vellahn, fans were treated to thrilling races on a challenging track on Saturday. Jörgen-Matthias Talviku (ADAC MX Masters), Nicolai Skovbjerg (ADAC MX Youngster Cup) and Patriks Cirulis (ADAC MX Junior Cup 85) came out on top in the three races. In the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125, Lucas Leok secured pole position for Sunday’s races.
ADAC MX Masters: Talviku takes a start-to-finish victory
Jörgen-Matthias Talviku (EST/SHR Motorsports by Hartje), the Acerbis Best Qualifier, sprinted to the front of the field with the Red Bull Holeshot, ahead of Noah Ludwig (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team) and Jere Haavisto (FIN/Schmicker Silve Racing). However, after the first lap, Tom Koch (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team) and Roan van de Moosdijk (NL/Kosak Racing Team) were in the leading chasing positions. Championship leader van de Moosdijk overtook Koch on the following lap to move into second place. Haavisto took fourth place midway through the race, whilst Maximilian Spies (D/Becker Racing) also overtook Ludwig on the same lap to move into fifth position. Haavisto continued to push forward and overtook Koch on the eighth lap. The race was abandoned following a crash involving Spies. After ten laps, Talviku was declared the winner ahead of van de Moosdijk, Haavisto, Koch and Ludwig.
“Thanks to my pole position, I was able to pick a good starting spot, which I converted into a great holeshot. From then on, I just focused on moving forward because I knew Roan would be coming up from behind. This is my first win in the series, and I’m really happy about it,” beamed Talviku.
ADAC MX Youngster Cup: Skovbjerg on course for the title
In the ADAC MX Youngster Cup, the holeshot went to Mick Kennedy (NL/Yamaha), who was, however, immediately overtaken at the front by class newcomer Ryan Oppliger (CH/Oppliger Racing). Nico Stenberg (FIN/Schmicker Silve Racing) settled into third place ahead of Saku Mansikkamäki (FIN/Schmicker Silve Racing) and Nicolai Skovbjerg (DK/SixtySeven Racing-Team). In the first half of the race, the top eight were bunched closely together before the positions began to shift. Within three laps, Skovbjerg worked his way up from fifth to first place. With three laps to go, Oppliger – who had won the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125 in the previous race – had to concede second place to Gyan Doensen (NL/Gabriel SS24 KTM Factory Juniors), who had moved up from fifth place in the space of a single lap. Kennedy fell well behind during this phase. Levi Townley (NZ/Team MJC-Yamaha-Monster Energy) pushed Oppliger down to fourth place on the final lap. With Skovbjerg’s victory ahead of Doensen, Townley, Oppliger and Stenberg, the Dane took a big step closer to securing the title early this weekend.
“It took me a while to find openings where I could attack. At half-time, Gyan was putting pressure on me from behind, so I switched to attack and managed to win. Even though I try not to think too much about the title, it’s naturally on my mind. Tomorrow I’ll try not to make any silly mistakes and hopefully secure the championship,” said a delighted Skovbjerg.
ADAC MX Junior Cup 125: Leok on pole position
In the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125, Saturday’s action centred on qualifying and determining the starting grid for Sunday’s two races. Championship leader Lucas Leok (EST/KTM MX Futures) set the fastest lap in qualifying and will be first to choose his starting position tomorrow, followed by Emil Ziemer (CH/Motobike Racing Team) and Finn Lange (D/KTM GST Berlin Racing).
ADAC MX Junior Cup 85: Close battle between the Cirulis twins
Martins Cirulis (LAT/Schmicker Silve Racing) took the lead with the Red Bull Holeshot and emerged from the first lap ahead of Conrad Pinchon (F/KTM MX Futures) and Patriks Cirulis (LAT/Schmicker Silve Racing). On the second lap, Patriks Cirulis was hot on his brother’s heels; one lap later, Harry Dale (GB/KTM MX Futures) overtook the Frenchman to move into third place. On lap four, Robin Robert Mooses (EST/MX-Handel Husqvarna Racing) took third place and stayed on the heels of the Cirulis twins until he retired on lap eight due to a technical fault. Meanwhile, Jaggar Townley (NZ/Yamaha NZ) had worked his way up to fourth place behind Pinchon. With four laps to go, Townley took fourth place; one lap later, Patriks Cirulis took the lead, which he did not relinquish. Patriks Cirulis thus won ahead of his brother Martins, Dale, Townley and Pinchon.
“The battle with my brother was great fun and I was finally able to overtake him towards the end. I’m already looking forward to tomorrow,” said Patriks Cirulis.
