Tom Koch, Maximilian Spies and Jere Haavisto claimed race wins. Roan van de Moosdijk won the ADAC MX Masters championship. Max Nagl failed to score any points in Tensfeld following an injury.
At the fourth round of the ADAC MX Masters, fans in Tensfeld witnessed three new race winners. Changeable weather created challenging racing conditions on the sandy track. With Tom Koch (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team), Maximilian Spies (D/Becker Racing) and Jere Haavisto (FI/Schmicker Silve Racing), there were three new race winners, but in the end it was Roan van de Moosdijk (NL/KTM Kosak Racing Team) who, as the most consistent rider of the weekend, took the top step of the podium. With this victory, van de Moosdijk also took the lead in the standings from Max Nagl (D/Dörr Motorsport Triumph Racing), who retired after a crash in the first race on Saturday and did not start on Sunday due to injury.
Comeback victory for Tom Koch
After Koch took the Red Bull holeshot, Nagl quickly took the lead ahead of van de Moosdijk in Saturday’s first race. The season’s two leading riders soon pulled away from the chasing pack. Halfway through the regular race distance, Nagl collided with riders who had previously crashed and went down. Van de Moosdijk, who was following behind, was also unable to avoid a collision. Koch inherited the lead ahead of van de Moosdijk and Noah Ludwig (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team), whilst Nagl retired due to injury. Two laps after the incident, the race was abandoned early and Koch celebrated his first race win since returning to the series, followed by van de Moosdijk, Ludwig, Jörgen-Matthias Talviku (EST/SHR Motorsports by Hartje) and Kevin Brumann (CH/MX-Handel Husqvarna Racing).
Maximilian Spies back on top
In Sunday’s second race, Ludwig took the Red Bull Holeshot, but Spies took the lead immediately afterwards. On the third lap, van de Moosdijk took second place from Ludwig. Spies steadily extended his lead and cruised to an unchallenged victory ahead of van de Moosdijk. Haavisto worked his way up from eighth place during the race and overtook Ludwig for third place with three laps to go. Koch rounded off the top five.
Haavisto claims maiden victory
In the third race, Talviku took the lead with the Red Bull Holeshot, followed by Haavisto and Koch. Van de Moosdijk moved into third place on the second lap, whilst Spies overtook Koch two laps later. Halfway through the race, van de Moosdijk capitalised on a mistake by Talviku to take the lead. On the tenth lap, Haavisto attacked the leader and overtook van de Moosdijk. One lap later, Spies edged past Talviku to take third place. Haavisto secured his first race win in the ADAC MX Masters. Van de Moosdijk, Spies, Talviku and Koch completed the top five.
Van de Moosdijk is the mid-season champion
With three second-place finishes, van de Moosdijk not only secured victory at the Tensfeld event ahead of Spies and Koch, but also took the lead in the championship. Nagl slipped back to second place. Spies moved into third place ahead of Koch and Haavisto.
“First of all, I wish Max Nagl a speedy recovery following yesterday’s crash. I also picked up a minor injury from Saturday’s collision, which is why I’m pleased with three consistent runs and another victory in Tensfeld,” said a delighted van de Moosdijk.
“I’m very happy to finally be back on the podium. Everything came together today, especially in the second race. In the final race, I didn’t find my rhythm at the start and got going too late. But all in all, it was a good weekend,” said Spies.
“Winning the race on Saturday was an excellent start to the weekend. Today I wasn’t entirely satisfied with my riding. I need to do a better job of delivering at the weekend what I’m capable of during the week. But with my second podium of the season, I’m already looking forward to the upcoming race in Gaildorf,” said Koch.
All races from both days of the event can be watched for free as re-livestreams or as individual races via the ADAC MX Masters playlist on the ADAC Motorsport YouTube channel. The full results from the weekend are available at adac.de/mx-masters.
