Roan van de Moosdijk needs only second place to clinch the title early. Jörgen-Matthias Talviku wins after a perfect weekend in Vellahn. Jere Haavisto completes the podium.
Roan van de Moosdijk (NL/Kosak Racing Team) was crowned ADAC MX Masters champion once again at the penultimate round of the season. Three second-place finishes behind three-time race winner Jörgen-Matthias Talviku (EST/SHR Motorsports by Hartje) were enough for the Dutchman to defend his title in Vellahn. Jere Haavisto (FIN/Schmicker Silve Racing) finished the event in third place.
Van de Moosdijk focused on the title
Roan van de Moosdijk had travelled to Vellahn with a comfortable 70-point lead and was focused on clinching the championship early. After a commanding second place in Saturday’s race, he crossed the Red Bull Holeshot line in the middle of the field in the second race on Sunday. The Dutchman worked his way steadily up the field and displaced Noah Ludwig (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team) from second place at the start of the final third of the race. In the third race, van de Moosdijk was back in second place behind Talviku by the second lap and kept the pressure on the leader for a long time before playing it safe in the closing stages. The three second-place finishes were enough for van de Moosdijk to secure the championship.
“After a good start in the third race, I focused above all on not making any silly mistakes. I’m very happy and the pressure is now off. I’m looking forward to a great season finale in Fürstlich Drehna, where I want to give it my all once again,” said a delighted van de Moosdijk.
Talviku shines with maximum points
It was Jörgen-Matthias Talviku’s weekend. The Estonian got the weekend off to a flying start by setting the fastest time in practice as the Acerbis Best Qualifier. He converted his pole position into a start-to-finish victory in the first race – his first ever race win in the series. The challenging mixed-surface track at MC Vellahn must have suited Talviku down to the ground, as he repeated the feat in both of Sunday’s races, winning each with a start-to-finish victory. With this perfect record, he emerged as the clear winner – the fourth event winner of the season.
“Who would have expected such a perfect result? But right from the first glance at the track on Friday, I really liked it. My bike felt great right from the start and I really enjoyed riding it. My three holeshots made things a lot easier for me, and I was able to ride consistently fast – my fitness is also in good shape. I can’t thank my team and supporters enough for making this possible,” beamed Talviku after his maiden ADAC MX Masters victory.
Haavisto back on the podium
Following a mixed weekend in Gaildorf, Jere Haavisto returned to the podium in the very first race at Vellahn, having worked his way past Noah Ludwig and Tom Koch (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team). After a poor start in the second race, the Finn steadily fought his way up from 25th place. After ten laps, he overtook Koch for fourth place, which he held to the finish. In the third race, Haavisto got off to a better start and was already in fourth place by the end of the second lap. After the first third of the race, he took third place from Markuss Kokins (LAT/Team BuyMX Yamaha), a position he held comfortably to the finish ahead of Koch and Jordi Tixier (F/KMP-Honda-Racing by DVAG). He thus finished the event in Vellahn in third place, ahead of Koch and Ludwig.
“I’m very happy to be back on the podium. The second race was very difficult after my botched start and I had to overtake a lot of riders, which wasn’t easy here,” said a delighted Haavisto.
In the championship, Koch remains in second place behind van de Moosdijk. Talviku moved up to third place ahead of Haavisto. Maximilian Spies (D/Becker Racing) was injured in the first race on Saturday and is out for the rest of the season, causing him to drop to fifth place in the standings.
