Second place in Vellahn was enough for Skovbjerg to clinch the title ahead of schedule. Emil Ziemer and Patriks Cirulis secured double victories in the ADAC MX Junior Cups. Schmicker Silve Racing enjoyed double success in the team standings.
Nicolai Skovbjerg clinched the championship ahead of schedule last weekend in Vellahn following the second round of the ADAC MX Youngster Cup. Gyan Doensen took the event victory. In the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125, Emil Ziemer shone with a double victory ahead of championship leader Lucas Leok, whilst in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85, Patriks Cirulis prevailed twice over his brother Martins, who continues to lead the championship. In the ADAC MX Masters team standings and the Young Talents team standings, the victories went to the Schmicker Silve Racing team.
ADAC MX Youngster Cup: Skovbjerg kept his cool
Nicolai Skovbjerg (DK/SixtySeven Racing Team) arrived at the ADAC MX Youngster Cup with a substantial points lead. The Dane showed no signs of nerves in the first race on Saturday, initially keeping a close eye on his rivals in the first half of the race before launching an attack and securing the race win ahead of Gyan Doensen (NL/Gabriel SS24 KTM Factory Juniors) and Levi Townley (NZ/Team MJC-Yamaha-Monster Energy). In the second race, Doensen, having taken the Red Bull Holeshot, rode to an unchallenged start-to-finish victory ahead of the championship runner-up, Sebastian Leok (EST/MX-Handel Husqvarna Racing). Skovbjerg started in the top ten and worked his way up to third place in the first half of the race. Knowing that this position would be enough to secure the title, he focused on not taking any unnecessary risks and avoiding mistakes. Finishing third behind Doensen and Leok, Skovbjerg was crowned the new champion. In the third race, Doensen also celebrated a start-to-finish victory, whilst Skovbjerg once again had to fight his way up from within the top ten. With four laps to go, he overtook Nico Stenberg (FIN/Schmicker Silve Racing) to take second place. In the event standings, victory went to Doensen ahead of Skovbjerg and Leok. Stenberg and class newcomer Ryan Oppliger (CH/Oppliger Racing) rounded off the top five.
“It’s been a good season. My starts weren’t always the best, so I had to fight my way up to the front. But I never gave up and I think I’ve earned this title. I’m very, very happy about it. Now the pressure’s off and I’d love to win again at the final in Fürstlich Drehna,” beamed Skovbjerg.
ADAC MX Junior Cup 125: Ziemer keeps Leok at bay
In the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125, both Red Bull Holeshots went to championship leader and Acerbis Best Qualifier Lucas Leok (EST/KTM MX Futures). However, his main rival in the title race, Emil Ziemer (CH/Motobike Racing Team), took the lead early on in each race. A similar pattern emerged in both races: Leok stayed within striking distance, but towards the end of the race Ziemer managed to build up a small lead and win ahead of Leok. In the first race, Max Meyer (D/Meyer Racing) held third place for a long time before Timo Heuver (NL/JP Xtreme Xperience) overtook him. Meyer finished fourth in this race ahead of Dawid Zaremba (PL/SHR Motorsports by Hartje). In the second race, Heuver was in third place right from the start and kept pace with the leading duo of Ziemer and Leok for a while. The two Germans, Finn Lange (D/KTM GST Berlin Racing) and Meyer, held fourth and fifth places throughout the race, finishing in those positions. The day’s victory went to Ziemer ahead of Leok, Heuver, Meyer and Zaremba. In the championship, Ziemer reduced his deficit to Leok to 17 points. Lange lies in third place ahead of Zaremba and Heuver.
“Both my starts were very good; I was able to overtake Lucas quickly and then soon found my rhythm and some good lines. The track was challenging, but I managed to handle the bumps well – I’m very pleased. Anything is still possible in the championship and I’ll simply give it my all in the final,” said a satisfied Ziemer.
ADAC MX Junior Cup 85: The twins’ duel
The Cirulis twins, Patriks and Martins (both LAT/Schmicker Silve Racing), once again made their mark on the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85. Only Harry Dale (GB/KTM MX Futures) and Robin Robert Mooses (EST/MX-Handel Husqvarna Racing) are currently able to keep up with the brothers’ pace, though they have yet to beat them. On Saturday, Patriks Cirulis first had to work his way past his brother, which he managed to do towards the end of the race to take the win ahead of Martins and Dale. On Sunday, Patriks won the second race with a start-to-finish victory ahead of his brother. Mooses finished third here, having retired the previous day due to a technical fault. With his victory in Vellahn ahead of his brother and Dale, Patriks Cirulis moved back up to second place in the championship behind Martins. Dale is in third place ahead of Mooses and the injured Luca Nierychlo (D/KTM MX Futures).
“I’m very happy to have beaten my brother twice. I enjoyed the battles with him. The track was very fast,” said Patriks Cirulis.
Team standings: Schmicker Silve Racing secures a one-two
In the ADAC MX Masters team standings, a team’s best result from each class is taken into account, with the result from the ADAC MX Masters class counting double. In the Young Talents team standings, however, results from the ADAC MX Masters class are excluded. In Vellahn, Schmicker Silve Racing emerged victorious in both classifications. The day’s podium in the ADAC MX Masters team standings was completed by SHR Motorsports by Hartje and the KTM Sarholz Racing Team. In the championship, the Kosak Racing Team leads ahead of Schmicker Silve Racing and the KTM Sarholz Racing Team. In the Young Talents team standings, MX-Handel Husqvarna Racing and KTM MX Futures took second and third place on the day. MX-Handel Husqvarna Racing also tops the standings here, followed by Schmicker Silve Racing and KTM MX Futures.
