Martins Cirulis is the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85 champion

Martins Cirulis secured the title with his race win on Saturday. Roan Van de Moosdijk claimed his first start-to-finish victory of the season. Nicolai Skovbjerg won Saturday’s race in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup.

The ADAC MX Masters season finale got underway on Saturday in excellent racing and weather conditions. The already-crowned champions, Roan van de Moosdijk (ADAC MX Masters) and Nicolai Skovbjerg (ADAC MX Youngster Cup), won the first races in their respective classes. Championship leader Martins Cirulis secured a commanding race win, thereby clinching the title in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85. In the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125, Emil Ziemer took pole position for Sunday’s races.

ADAC MX Masters: van de Moosdijk puts in a masterful performance

Roan van de Moosdijk (NL/Kosak Racing Team), having secured the Acerbis Best Qualifier spot, converted his pole position into the Red Bull Holeshot and cruised to an unchallenged start-to-finish victory. Behind him, his team-mates Tom Koch and Noah Ludwig (both D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team) initially held the chasing positions ahead of Jörgen-Matthias Talviku (EST/SHR Motorsports by Hartje) and Mike Gwerder (CH/HTS Racing Team). After five laps, Talviku had overtaken Koch and Ludwig to move into second place and subsequently pulled away. Kevin Brumann moved into fifth place midway through the race. Ludwig put Koch under increasing pressure until the latter crashed and was only able to resume the race in sixth position. In the closing stages, Brumann overtook Ludwig to finish third behind van de Moosdijk and Talviku.

“My tactics at the start paid off perfectly and I managed to secure my first holeshot of the season. From the front, I was able to control the race well, focused on my riding and came out on top. I’d like to round off the ADAC season tomorrow with two strong races,” said a satisfied van de Moosdijk.

ADAC MX Youngster Cup: Skovbjerg secures a start-to-finish victory

Although Nicolai Skovbjerg (DK/SixtySeven Racing Team) did not enter the first corner in first place, he crossed the Red Bull Holeshot line in the lead ahead of Scott Smulders (NL/SixtySeven Racing Team), Valentin Kees (D/Kosak Racing Team), Sebastian Leok (EST/MX-Handel Husqvarna Racing) and Saku Mansikkamäki (FIN/Schmicker Silve Racing). Smulders crashed on the second lap and retired, allowing Mansikkamäki to take second place ahead of Kees. Kees came under pressure from Leok, who overtook the German to take third place midway through the race. Lyonel Reichl (LIE/KTM Sarholz Racing Team) briefly overtook Kees in the second half of the race, but dropped back to fifth place following a counter-attack by the German. With two laps to go, Reichl attacked again, this time successfully. Skovbjerg secured an unchallenged victory ahead of Mansikkamäki and Leok.

“After Smulders and Mansikkamäki were carried wide in the first corner, I was in the lead right from the start and so had an easy ride compared to my usual come-from-behind chases following botched starts. I’m still very motivated even after the long season and winning the championship early, because I simply love racing on my dirt bike. I’m looking forward to tomorrow,” said Skovbjerg.

ADAC MX Junior Cup 85: Martins Cirulis seals the title early

Patriks Cirulis took the lead with the Red Bull Holeshot ahead of his brother Martins Cirulis (both LAT/Schmicker Silve Racing) and Harry Dale (GB/KTM MX Futures), meaning the top three in the championship were at the front. Martins Cirulis took the lead after his brother crashed on the second lap and steadily built up a lead. Dale was pushed out of second place by Robin Robert Mooses (EST/MX-Handel Husqvarna Racing) on the third lap. At the halfway point, Gergö Horvath (HU/HTS Racing Team) took fourth place from Mike Pijnen (NL/Mefo Sport Racing Team). With an unchallenged race win, Martins Cirulis was crowned the new champion. Mooses and Dale crossed the line in the remaining positions.

“That was a good race: I got off to a good start and, after my brother crashed in the undulations, I was out in front and managed to win. Winning the title is a dream come true and I’d like to thank all my supporters who made this possible,” beamed Martins Cirulis.
