At the age of 14, Lucas Leok (EST/KTM MX Futures) became ADAC MX Junior Cup champion for the second time. Having won the 85cc class the previous year, he immediately followed that up with the title in the 125cc class in 2026 during his rookie season. He also picked up awards as Red Bull Holeshot winner and Bridgestone Rookie of the Year. The Leok name is firmly established in motocross, now in its fourth generation; his father Aigar and uncle Tanel were both factory riders, and his cousins Sebastian and Travis are also competing successfully in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup. Although he generally prefers to let his riding do the talking, Leok gave us some insights into his season and career during the champions’ interview.

Congratulations on winning the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125 in your rookie season! How delighted are you with this title? Lucas Leok: “I’m absolutely delighted. Winning the championship in my first year on the 125cc is something very special. All the hard work over the winter and during the season has paid off. My aim was to be competitive and fight for the best possible results. Winning the title in my rookie season is amazing. It means a great deal to me. It shows that I’m constantly improving and that the work we put in is paying off.”

Was the switch to the 125cc class difficult? “Yes, it was a big step. The bike is different – bigger and more powerful. I had to adapt my riding style and learn to ride smoothly whilst keeping up the pace. The pace in the 125cc class is higher, and every mistake can cost you dearly, as the competition in the races is even fiercer. You have to stay focused all the time. There were several fast riders. The standard was high, and you had to give it your all at every event.”

What was your greatest strength in 2026? “I think my consistency was one of my greatest strengths. I also learnt a lot about the bike and tried to improve in every race. The team plays a big part too and is certainly one of my strengths. We worked really well together at KTM MX Futures, and my team’s support was crucial throughout the season. You can’t achieve that sort of success on your own.”

What is it that makes motocross so fascinating? “I’m fascinated by the speed, the competition and the challenge that every track presents. Every race is different, and there’s always something you can improve on.”

How important is it to compete against international riders in the ADAC series? “That’s very important to me. You’re constantly racing against fast riders from different countries, and that helps you learn and see where you stand. Winning the championship in Fürstlich Drehna was my biggest highlight. There were lots of great moments, but it was the title that made the season special. There were also a few difficult moments over the course of the season. But that’s all part of racing. You learn from the bad races and then focus on the next one.”

What are the plans for 2027? “We’re currently working on the plans for next season. I’ll be racing in the 125cc class for another year with support from KTM before moving up to the 250F. The aim is to keep improving, get stronger and race at the highest possible level.”

Is there anything else you’d like to say to round off the interview? “Thanks to my family, my team and everyone who has supported me this season. Now it’s time to keep working hard on my game and come back even stronger.”
