A heated exchange between Nagl and van de Moosdijk in Bitche

Max Nagl wins the away race in France. Roan van de Moosdijk takes victory in the third race. Jere Haavisto celebrates his first podium finish of the event.

At the third round of the ADAC MX Masters this weekend, Max Nagl (GER/Dörr Motorsport Triumph Racing) and Roan van de Moosdijk (NED/KTM Kosak Racing Team) cemented their positions as the clear leading duo in the championship. Nagl celebrated his third consecutive event victory in Bitche, thereby extending his lead in the standings. Van de Moosdijk secured his first race win of the season. Jere Haavisto (FIN/Schmicker Silve Racing) achieved his best result of the series so far with third place in France, following two third-place finishes.

Nagl’s start-to-finish victory

On Saturday, Nagl was unbeatable, securing a commanding start-to-finish victory in the first race. Van de Moosdijk overtook Tom Koch (GER/KTM Sarholz Racing Team) and Jörgen-Matthias Talviku (EST/SHR Motorsports by Hartje) in the first third of the race to secure second place. Shortly after the halfway point, Haavisto pushed Koch out of the top three and held on to that position until the finish. Peter König (D/KTM GST Berlin Racing) celebrated his best result in this class with fifth place behind Maximilian Spies (D/Becker Racing).

Nagl beats van de Moosdijk after a comeback

On Sunday, Koch won the Red Bull Holeshot in the second race, but Haavisto took the lead on the very first lap. Nagl got a bit boxed in at the start as he approached the first corner and returned from the opening lap in eighth place. After the first third of the race, van de Moosdijk moved into the lead ahead of Haavisto and Koch, whilst Nagl steadily worked his way up the field. At the start of the final third of the race, Nagl overtook Haavisto for second place and then quickly closed the gap on van de Moosdijk. In the closing stages, Nagl prevailed in a spectacular duel to win ahead of van de Moosdijk, Haavisto, Koch and Spies.

Van de Moosdijk strikes back

In the third race, Talviku took the Red Bull Holeshot ahead of van de Moosdijk, Nagl, Nico Koch (D/Becker Racing) and Tom Koch. Van de Moosdijk overtook Talviku on the second lap, with Nagl following suit three laps later. At the halfway point, Tom Koch and Talviku overtook Nico Koch to move into fourth and fifth places. In the second half of the race, van de Moosdijk and Nagl engaged in a thrilling battle at the front, much to the delight of the large crowd. Despite his best efforts, Nagl could not find a way past the Dutchman. Van de Moosdijk pulled away slightly again in the closing stages and capped off the race with his first win of the season ahead of Nagl and Talviku. Tom Koch and Haavisto rounded off the top five.

Nagl retains the Red Plate

With his victory in the event standings ahead of van de Moosdijk, Haavisto, Koch and Talviku, Nagl has extended his lead in the championship to 17 points. Koch, Haavisto and Spies are already 50 points behind the runner-up, with just one point separating each of them.

“After a perfect race on Saturday, things didn’t go to plan at the start of the second race. I managed to move up the field well, but I took some risks in the process. When I was behind Roan, I was able to study him a bit and then launch the decisive attack. As I closed in on Roan in the third race, he quickly picked up on my lines and used them himself. My alternatives weren’t good, so with the championship in mind, I settled for second place. Overall, I’m very happy with the weekend,” said Nagl.

“Max was simply better in the second race. That’s why I was determined to win the third race, and I’m very happy that I managed it. It was hard work, but it was worth it,” said van de Moosdijk, clearly pleased.

“I’ve been chasing a podium finish for so long and I’m very happy to have achieved it now. I need to work on putting in three consistent races like I did here in future, then the result will be there in the end. All the hard work with the team has paid off,” said Haavisto, visibly moved.
