The title hero for Kosak Racing: Roan van de Moosdijk

2025 was Roan van de Moosdijk's (NL/Kosak Racing Team) first full ADAC MX Masters season. In an exciting season finale in Holzgerlingen, he first snatched the championship lead from veteran and record champion Max Nagl (D/Dörr Motorsport Triumph Racing powered by Krettek) on Saturday and then underlined his title credentials with two race wins on Sunday. At the same time, he secured the Kosak Racing Team's first ADAC MX Masters title since the series was established.

The 24-year-old Dutchman can already look back on a successful international career, which includes finishing second in the 125cc Junior World Championship with the DP19 Yamaha Team in 2016, winning the EMX 250 title with F&H Kawasaki in 2019, and achieving several Grand Prix race wins in subsequent years. He revealed how he fared this season in an interview.

Congratulations on your first ADAC MX Masters title. How did you feel in Holzgerlingen when you finally secured it?

“It was a great feeling when I finally crossed the finish line. It was a pretty hectic weekend because I was so close to Max in the title race. When I finally crossed the finish line, I was very relieved. It's something you don't experience often in life, the moment when you realize you've won the championship. It was just incredible.”

What was your mindset going into the weekend in Holzgerlingen?

“I was pretty relaxed because I knew I was only three points behind. I had lost the red plate in Bitche, but I knew that the better rider in Holzgerlingen would become champion. So maybe it was even a good thing that I no longer had the red plate on my bike. I was pretty calm going into the weekend.”

What goes through your mind as the championship leader before the final race?

"On Saturday, I was a little nervous because I knew that if Max finished ahead of me, he would have an even bigger lead and be even more confident. I knew that Saturday was pretty important. Fortunately, I finished ahead of Max in the first race and was back in the lead. But then Sunday morning was pretty hectic because it had rained a lot overnight and it was muddy. But everything just fell into place that day and I just went with the flow. In the first race on Sunday, I won the Red Bull Holeshot for the first time this season, which helped me a lot. I just focused on myself and was actually ‘in the zone’ from the first to the last lap in the second race. Athletes experience this ‘flow’ feeling a few times in their careers when they just know it's their day and nothing can go wrong. That's what I felt that day. So it was perfect timing."

Is it a nice bonus that this is also the first ADAC MX Masters title for the Kosak Racing Team?

"I didn't know that it would be Kosak's first ADAC MX Masters title. It's been a long time since the last championship title, and I think Herbert and Kevin deserve this title. We work together in a small group that I've known for a year and a half now. They're just really nice people, and I'm very happy to give them this title."

Is this your biggest title win?

“I won the EMX title in 2019 at the age of 18. That was also a tough nut to crack. The ADAC MX Masters is my second major title win, which I am naturally just as delighted about.”

What was a personal highlight of the season?

“I think it was in Tensfeld, when I won a race without a rear brake. I collided with Max at the start and when I looked down, the rear brake was gone. I thought to myself: How am I going to do this now? I was in fourth place and then somehow made it to the front, overtaking everyone. Looking back now, it was a pretty good race.”

And which race was one to forget?

“That was, of course, the crash after the start in Bielstein. It was a serious crash, and it wasn't my fault. I went down, suffered a slight concussion, and then a few days later I won my first ADAC overall victory. That made the success in Tensfeld all the more enjoyable. Within just two weekends, there were highs and lows in quick succession.”

After your first full ADAC MX Masters season, how strong is the series?

“I think it's a strong series. On the one hand, there are the old hands like Jordi Tixier and Max Nagl, but on the other hand, there are also really talented younger riders like Marcel Stauffer, Noah Ludwig, and Max Spies. Sometimes you see them doing well in the MXGP and finishing just ahead of or in the top ten. It's a good mix and the pace is consistently good. I think it's a good championship.”

What are your plans for the coming season?

“I haven't signed anything for next season yet, but let's just say it's looking pretty good. I'm happy with how I did this year, competing in all the ADAC MX Masters and some European MXGP races. It was pretty tough, but that's exactly what helps me improve when I'm up against the best riders in the world. Of course, the year ended on a high note and I'd love to defend my title.”
