Maximilian Spies returns to winning ways. Quentin Prugnieres controls the ADAC MX Youngster Cup. Ian Ampoorter prevails in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125.
In good racing conditions, Maximilian Spies (Germany/Becker Racing) secured his first race win in two years at the ADAC MX Masters in Mölln on Saturday. Quentin Prugnieres (France/WZ-Racing KTM) controlled the first race of the ADAC MX Youngster Cup at the Grambeker Heidering. In the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125, victory went to Ian Ampoorter (B/F4E GasGas Junior Racing Team).
ADAC MX Masters: Spies' dry spell is over
Noah Ludwig (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team) got off the starting grid fastest and secured the Red Bull Holeshot. After a two-lap duel with Maximilian Spies, the latter took the lead and steadily pulled away from the rest of the field as the race progressed. Jakub Teresak (CZ/KMP-Honda-Racing-Team by DVAG) and Acerbis Best Qualifier Roan Van de Moosdijk (NL/Kosak Racing Team) pushed Ludwig out of the top three in the fifth lap. This order remained unchanged until the finish line. Championship leader Max Nagl (D/Dörr Motorsport Triumph Racing powered by Krettek) was only in twelfth position after the start, but continued to work his way forward and overtook Jörgen-Matthias Talviku (EST/JMT Esttrans Yamaha Keskus Racing Team), who was in fifth place, shortly before the end of the race. ‘After two years without a race win, this feels great. I've worked hard for this and I'm very happy that I was able to improve on my good start in Fürstlich Drehna. After the duel with Noah, I tried to find my rhythm quickly,’ said a beaming Spies.
ADAC MX Youngster Cup: Quentin Prugnieres confident
In the ADAC MX Youngster Cup, Linus Jung (Germany/KTM Sarholz Racing Team) took the lead with the Red Bull Holeshot, but had to let Acerbis Best Qualifier Quentin Prugnieres and Mads Fredsoe (Denmark/Cat Moto Bauerschmidt Husqvarna) pass him on the first lap. While the leading duo quickly pulled away from the rest of the field, Jung defended his position until two laps before the end, but crashed out of the points. Bradley Mesters (NL/Kosak Racing Team), Sebastian Leok (MX-Handel Husqvarna Racing) and Liam Owens (AU/Cat Moto Bauerschmidt Husqvarna) benefited from this and finished the race in the top five. ‘With a good start, I made life a little easier for myself than at the season opener. I quickly moved to the front and then tried to concentrate on myself and my line choice. The track is tricky with a few tricky sections,’ explained Prugnieres.
ADAC MX Junior Cup 125: Ampoorter comes out on top
The Red Bull Holeshot went to Moritz Ernecker (A/KTM Sarholz Racing Team), but Oskar Romberg (D/Meyer Racing) took the lead on the opening lap. During the first half of the race, Raivo Laicans (LAT/Sturm STC Racing) and Acerbis Best Qualifier Ian Ampoorter established themselves as the closest pursuers of the leader. After Romberg braked his bike, Ampoorter took the lead ahead of Laicans and Max Meyer (D/Meyer Racing). This order remained unchanged until the finish. Finn Lange finished the race in fourth place, while Romberg fought his way back to fifth on the final lap. ‘It feels really good to start with a win here after I had a bit of bad luck in Fürstlich Drehna. Tomorrow, I want to continue in the same vein in both races: get off to a good start and win if possible,’ said Ampoorter.
The replay of the first day of racing is available on the ADAC Motorsport YouTube channel. The live stream of all races on Sunday starts at 10:30 a.m. and can be followed at adac.de/mx-masters.
