Noah Ludwig secures three podium places at the Grambeker Heidering. Max Nagl extends his championship lead with second place. Roan Van de Moosdijk back on the podium after race win.
Noah Ludwig (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team) took overall victory in the second ADAC MX Masters event in Mölln. In front of a record crowd at the Grambeker Heidering, however, the three race wins at the weekend went to Maximilian Spies (D/Becker Racing), Roan Van de Moosdijk (NL/Kosak Racing Team) and Max Nagl (D/Dörr Motorsport Triumph Racing powered by Krettek). Nagl thus slightly extended his lead in the championship.
Noah Ludwig celebrates his first overall victory
The most consistent rider in Mölln was Noah Ludwig, who collected the most points in the three races without winning a single race. Two Red Bull Holeshots laid the foundation for his good results. On Saturday, Maximilian Spies took the first race win ahead of Jakub Teresak (CZ/KMP-Honda-Racing-Team by DVAG). Ludwig finished fourth behind Acerbis Best Qualifier Van de Moosdijk. On Sunday, Ludwig benefited from a crash by Nagl in the second race to slip into second place behind Van de Moosdijk. Ludwig was overtaken by Marcel Stauffer (A/Osicka MX Team) at the end of the race, but pushed him back into third place after a riding error. In the third race, Ludwig sprinted to the front at the start and held off Nagl's attacks until five laps before the end. Second place behind Nagl and ahead of Spies was enough for Ludwig's first overall victory in the ADAC MX Masters. "It was a good and consistent weekend for me in Mölln. With three good starts and three good races, I achieved my goal after making too many mistakes of my own at the start of the season," said a beaming Ludwig.
Max Nagl overcomes challenges
Championship leader Max Nagl had to contend with difficulties this weekend. In the first race, he fought his way up from midfield to fifth place after a poor start. In the second race, he took the lead with the Red Bull Holeshot, but crashed on a jump. He resumed the race in fourth place, which he held until the finish. In the third race, the reigning champion stuck to Ludwig's rear wheel from the start and took the lead in the final third of the race to win. "I'm satisfied with second place in Mölln and extending my championship lead, but too many mistakes and things happened that shouldn't have. I rode the second race with a defective shock absorber without noticing. After receiving advice from outside, I used the shock absorber from the spare bike for the third race, which made a big improvement," concluded Nagl.
First race win for Roan Van de Moosdijk
After finishing third in the first race, Roan Van de Moosdijk claimed the first race win of his ADAC MX Masters career on Sunday. In the third race, he stalled the engine while braking on the opening lap and came to a halt, causing another rider to collide with him and knock him off his bike. Van de Moosdijk finished the ensuing chase in eighth place, putting him third overall ahead of Spies and Teresak. ‘It's annoying that I threw away a possible overall victory after two good races. But under the circumstances, I'm happy to be on the podium and well placed in the championship,’ said Van de Moosdijk, putting a conciliatory spin on things.
Nagl slightly extended his lead over Spies and Van de Moosdijk in the championship. Ludwig and Teresak moved into the top five. All races from both days of the event can be viewed as re-livestreams or as individual races free of charge via the ADAC MX Masters playlist on the ADAC Motorsport YouTube channel.
