The numerous spectators in Gaildorf enjoyed an eventful race weekend at the sixth round of the ADAC MX Masters. Maximilian Spies (D/Becker Racing) secured victory at the Auf der Wacht circuit. Roan Van de Moosdijk (NL/Kosak Racing Team) took the lead in the standings with third place in Gaildorf.

Spies with first victory on hard ground

After two difficult events due to injury, Maximilian Spies triumphed in Gaildorf and claimed his first event victory of the season. After two solid fourth places in the first two races, he took the lead from Red Bull Holeshot winner Noah Ludwig (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team) in the first lap of the third race and then pulled away from the rest of the field. Van de Moosdijk reduced Spies' lead during the race, but fell back a few places due to technical problems. This allowed Jordi Tixier (F/KMP-Honda-Racing powered by DVAG) and Jörgen-Matthias Talviku (EST/JMT Esttrans Yamaha Keskus Racing Team) to move up into the chasing positions.

"I felt good all weekend. The starts weren't so good in the first two races, but I managed to get it right in the third race. I was able to pass Noah quickly and then rode at my own pace in a controlled manner. I tested the tyres extensively last week, which paid off here because I felt very comfortable with them. I hope I can achieve a result like this again this season," said a delighted Spies.

Tixier shines again after his comeback

Jordi Tixer started the weekend strongly as Acerbis' best qualifier with the fastest lap time in qualifying. He underlined this performance with second place in the first race on Saturday. He fought his way forward continuously during the race and even put pressure on race winner van de Moosdijk at the end. In the second race, he thwarted his own chances of a better result than fifth place with two crashes. In the third race, he proved his strength on the hard ground and fought his way up to second place behind Talviku. With second place in Gaildorf, Tixier finished on the podium for the second time in his third race of the season.

"I've worked hard over the last few weeks to get back to my old pace. I showed that in qualifying. After three difficult months with a back injury, I can't maintain this high pace over a whole race distance yet. Apart from the second race, where I made life difficult for myself, I'm satisfied and will gradually get back to my old self. The atmosphere here was fantastic and I really enjoyed riding in front of all the fans," beamed Tixier.

Van de Moosdijk takes the red plate despite bad luck

Roan Van de Moosdijk had already made up a lot of points on championship leader Max Nagl (D/Dörr Motorsport Triumph Racing powered by Krettek) on Saturday by winning the first race ahead of Tixier and Ludwig. In the second race, Van de Moosdijk scored well again with second place behind Marcel Stauffer (A/Osicka MX Team). In the final race, Van de Moosdijk caught up with the leading Spies before falling back to eleventh place. He improved to eighth place by the finish. He finished in third place, level on points with Tixier. Nagl struggled with health problems and only managed tenth place over the weekend. Van de Moosdijk now leads the championship by four points ahead of Nagl, Spies, Talviku and Ludwig, who once again won all the Red Bull Holeshots over the weekend.

"I'm very happy to be leading the standings; it was a good weekend. I'm a little dissatisfied with the third race because, after a good start, I was well on course for overall victory here, but then the chain jumped off and I had to put it back on at the side of the track. But in the end, I was lucky because the whole thing could have ended really badly. So now I have reason to celebrate," said Van de Moosdijk, looking satisfied.

All races from both days of the event can be viewed free of charge as re-livestreams via the ADAC MX Masters playlist on the ADAC Motorsport YouTube channel. The full results from the weekend are available at adac.de/mx-masters.
