Marcel Stauffer puts in a strong performance at the ADAC MX Masters. Lucas Leok wins after a comeback in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85. Larissa Papenmeier continues her winning streak in the DMX Women's Championship.
In sunny weather, numerous fans enjoyed entertaining races in Bielstein on Saturday. In the ADAC MX Masters class, Marcel Stauffer (A/Osicka MX Team) prevailed against championship leader Max Nagl (D/Dörr Motorsport Triumph Racing powered by Krettek) after a thrilling duel. In the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85, Lucas Leok (EST/KTM MX Futures) thrilled the crowd with a race win after a strong comeback. Larissa Papenmeier (D/SYE Racing Team 423) won the German Women's Motocross Championship in commanding fashion.
ADAC MX Masters: Stauffer snatches lead from Nagl
Nagl sprinted to the front of the field in the first race with the Red Bull Holeshot ahead of Jörgen-Matthias Talviku (EST/JMT Esttrans Yamaha Keskus Racing Team), Acerbis Best Qualifier Jordi Tixier (F/KMP-Honda-Racing powered by DVAG), Stauffer and Maximilian Spies (D/Becker Racing). Stauffer passed Talviku after two laps and Tixier on the sixth lap. After a few laps, he had worked his way up to Nagl's rear wheel, took the lead shortly after the halfway point and then pulled away slightly. Tixier pushed Talviku out of third place in the final third of the race. With two laps to go, Talviku also had to let Roan Van de Moosdijk (NL/Kosak Racing Team) pass, who had fought his way up from tenth place. It was Stauffer's second race win in the ADAC MX Masters, followed by Nagl, Tixier, Van de Moosdijk and Talviku.
‘I perform even better on hard ground than in sand. Max rode strongly, but after he made a mistake, I was able to take the lead and build up a small advantage. It wasn't easy to overtake and you had to be careful because it was a bit slippery in places. Now I hope that things continue in the same vein tomorrow,’ said Stauffer at the finish.
ADAC MX Junior Cup 85: Lucas Leok keeps his cool
Championship leader Harry Dale (GB/KTM MX Futures) took the lead after the Red Bull Holeshot ahead of Luca Nierychlo (D/KTM MX Futures) and Martins Cirulis (LAT/Schmicker Racing). On the fifth lap, Jarno Jansen (CH/SixtySeven Racing Husqvarna) took third place and one lap later passed Nierychlo to move into second position. Lucas Leok only managed tenth place on the opening lap, but rode courageously and gradually closed in on the leading trio with the fastest lap times. With three laps to go, Leok moved up from fourth place to take the lead within a lap and distanced Dale, Jansen and Cirulis to the finish. Marten Raud (EST/MX-Handel Husqvarna Racing) rounded off the top five.
"I was only in the middle of the field after the start, was cautious at first on the wet track, but then quickly found my flow and good lines. That's how I was able to win the race. Hopefully I'll have better starts tomorrow," Leok summed up.
DMX Women: Larissa Papenmeier in a class of her own
At the premiere of the DMX Women's race as part of the ADAC MX Masters, Larissa Papenmeier left no doubt that she is the one to beat for the title. After securing pole position in qualifying, she took the lead right from the start of the first race and pulled away from the rest of the field. But behind her, things were more eventful. Malou Jakobsen (DK/KL Racing Team/KTM Scandinavia) was in second place after the first lap ahead of Tanja Schlosser (D/Triumph), Lisa Michels (D/Husqvarna) and Alexandra Massury (D/RCK Racing Team). Halfway through the race, Massury moved up to third place within two laps and closed the gap to Jakobsen. Schlosser fell back to fifth place behind Michels. While Papenmeier celebrated a commanding race victory, Jakobsen successfully defended second place ahead of Massury, Michels and Schlosser.
‘I got off to a good start and had a lot of fun riding. I'm happy with this race and am already looking forward to tomorrow,’ said a beaming Papenmeier.
