Jeffrey Herlings scores maximum points at the ADAC MX Masters. Jörgen-Matthias Talviku and Roan Van de Moosdijk on the podium. Max Nagl defends championship lead.
At the 150th anniversary event of the ADAC MX Masters, Jeffrey Herlings (NL/Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) lived up to his role as favourite in Dreetz. With three clear race wins, he won the event classification ahead of Roan Van de Moosdijk (NL/Kosak Racing Team) and Jörgen-Matthias Talviku (EST/Triumph Aqva Racing). Max Nagl (D/Dörr Motorsport Triumph Racing powered by Krettek) remains the championship leader after finishing fourth in Dreetz.
Herlings unbeatable in all races
Jeffrey Herlings was in a class of his own on the very challenging sandy track. He already proved his skills in qualifying as Acerbis Best Qualifier. In all three races, he was in second place early on, then studied the leader's tracks for a few laps before taking the lead and pulling out a clear advantage to the finish line. In the first race on Saturday, Maximilian Spies (D/Becker Racing) initially took the lead before having to concede defeat to Herlings. In the two races on Sunday, Max Nagl won the Red Bull Holeshots and finished second twice. ‘The track lived up to its reputation: it was very sandy and challenging in Dreetz, which I really liked. I wasn't happy with my starts, but I was happy with my riding and the results,’ said a delighted Herlings.
Van de Moosdijk moves up to second place in the standings
Roan Van de Moosdijk showed his strength with two third places in the first two races. In the third race, he was again in third position until the final third of the race, before crashing and crossing the finish line in sixth place. With second place overall in Dreetz, Van de Moosdijk also moved up to second place in the standings. ‘This is my third podium finish in a row, and I'm happy with this consistency. However, I'm annoyed that poor third races have prevented me from achieving even better results so far. But with second place in Dreetz, I've improved and moved up in the championship. That makes me feel positive about the next race in Bielstein,’ said Van de Moosdijk, summing up the day.
Talviku surprises with third place
Jörgen-Matthias Talviku improved over the course of the weekend and impressed with his first overall podium in the ADAC MX Masters. After finishing fifth in the first race behind Marcel Stauffer (A/Osicka MX Team), he came fourth in the second race and finished the final race in third place. This secured him third place in the event standings ahead of Nagl and Lukas Platt (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team), who achieved his best result of the weekend with fourth place in the third race. ‘After a year of racing in the USA, a change of brand and the move up to the 450cc machine, I am very happy with the progress I have made together with my team this season and the setup we have found. That makes me very proud,’ beamed Talviku.
Max Nagl now leads the championship ahead of Van de Moosdijk, Spies, Talviku and Noah Ludwig (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team). "Despite the problems in the first race with a bent gear lever, I am very happy with the further development of the bike that we have achieved this weekend. We have made significant progress, and that makes me feel confident about the upcoming races," explained Nagl.
All races from both days of the event can be viewed free of charge as re-livestreams or individual races via the ADAC MX Masters playlist on the ADAC Motorsport YouTube channel. The full results from the weekend are available at adac.de/mx-masters.
