In warm summer temperatures, fans at the ADAC MX Masters enjoyed an exciting start to the 60th Motocross, which took place at the ‘Auf der Wacht’ in Gaildorf. In Saturday's races, victory went to Roan Van de Moosdijk (NL/Kosak Racing Team) in the ADAC MX Masters, Maxime Grau (F/WZ-Racing KTM) in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup and Lucas Leok (EST/KTM MX Futures) in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85. Ian Ampoorter (B/F4E GasGas Junior Racing Team) will start from pole position in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125 on Sunday.
ADAC MX Masters: Van de Moosdijk closes gap on Nagl
In the first race, Noah Ludwig (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team) stormed to the front with the Red Bull Holeshot ahead of Roan Van de Moosdijk and Mike Gwerder (CH/HTS-KTM Racing Team). In the first lap, Marcel Stauffer (A/Osicka MX Team) took third place from Gwerder, and a little later Van de Moosdijk took the lead from Ludwig. After the first third of the race, Acerbis Best Qualifier Jordi Tixier (F/KMP-Honda-Racing powered by DVAG) moved past Stauffer into third place. In the final stages, Ludwig lost second place to Tixier, who closed the gap to Van de Moosdijk until the finish. But Van de Moosdijk kept control and won ahead of Tixier, Ludwig, Maximilian Spies (D/Becker Racing) and Jörgen-Matthias Talviku (EST/JMT Esttrans Yamaha Keskus Racing Team). Championship leader Max Nagl (D/Dörr Motorsport Triumph Racing powered by Krettek) finished tenth after starting in the top ten and crashing out.
‘It wasn't an easy race in the hot temperatures of over 30 degrees. After a good start, I was able to overtake Noah quite quickly and control the lead quite well. I was able to withstand Jordi's pressure well and am happy with the victory,’ said Van de Moosdijk.
ADAC MX Youngster Cup: Grau wins from start to finish
Maxime Grau took control of the first race of the ADAC MX Youngster Cup right from the start. He led the entire race and secured an unchallenged victory. Valentin Kees (D/Kosak Racing Team) passed Lyonel Reichl (LIE/KTM Sarholz Racing Team) on the first lap to move into second place.
However, Reichl countered four laps later and kept Kees at bay until the finish. Behind Grau, Reichl and Kees, Mads Fredsoe (DK/Cat Moto Bauerschmidt Husqvarna) and championship leader Bradley Mesters (NL/Kosak Racing Team) rounded off the top five.
‘That was my first Red Bull Holeshot this season, which made life easier for me. I always feel comfortable in Gaildorf, and today was no exception. I'm happy with my riding after my injury break and am already looking forward to tomorrow,’ said Grau.
ADAC MX Junior Cup 125: Ian Ampoorter on pole position
Saturday in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125 was all about qualifying and securing grid positions for Sunday's two races. Ian Ampoorter set the fastest lap in qualifying and will therefore start from pole position tomorrow, followed by Max Meyer (Germany/Meyer Racing) and Leo Diss-Fenard (France/Mefo Sport Racing Team).
ADAC MX Junior Cup 85: Leok and Jansen dominate the race
In the first race of the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85, Lucas Leok took control right from the start and rode to a start-to-finish victory. Only Jarno Jansen (CH/SixtySeven Racing Husqvarna) was able to keep up with the pace of the leader and finished the race in second place. Neo Nindelt (D/TYK Team Yamaha Knobloch sponsored by A.T.E.C.), Luca Nierychlo (D/KTM MX Futures) and Luca Frank (D/Becker Racing) formed the chasing pack. The three fought hard for position, but the placings remained unchanged throughout the race. Leok took the win ahead of Jansen, Nindelt, Nierychlo and Frank.
‘I managed to win the Red Bull Holeshot, but then I got stomach cramps after the third lap. That's why I'm so happy to have won the race,’ Leok revealed after the race.
You can relive the first day of racing on the ADAC Motorsport YouTube channel. Live streaming of all Sunday's races will begin at 9:40 a.m. and can be viewed at adac.de/mx-masters.
