ADAC MX Youngster Cup: Oriol Oliver in a class of his own

Oriol Oliver made his mark on the ADAC MX Youngster Cup in Tensfeld. The Spaniard won all three races. After a relatively quiet start, by his standards, to Saturday’s opening race, having to wait a few laps before taking the lead, he upped his game on Sunday with a lights-to-flag victory in race two and a comfortable win in the third and final race. His three fiercest rivals in the championship, Cato Nickel (D/WZ-Racing), Mike Gwerder (CH/WZ-Racing) and Peter König (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team), were missing through injury. That allowed Oliver to extend his lead at the top of the table to a comfortable 98 points ahead of the final two events of the season. Nickel, Gwerder and König continue to occupy positions two to four in the table, despite their absence. Edvards Bidzans (LVA/Sixty Seven) finished second overall in Tensfeld and took a big step up the table, in which he now lies fifth. Third, second and second place meant that he and Oliver were the only drivers to finish on the podium in all three races. Nico Greutmann (CH) showed great consistency to finish third overall, without actually making it onto the podium in any of the races. The Swiss was starting on a borrowed bike, without a big team behind him, and surprised even himself with his best result of the season so far. In Saturday’s opening race, Rasmus Pedersen (DK/Filten Racing) showed his strength with second place ahead of Bidzans. Scott Smulders (NL/KMP Honda Racing powered by Krettek) finished third in race two. The final race saw Jan Krug (D/Sixty Seven) come home third to claim the best individual result of his career so far. He consequently completed the top five in the overall standings at Tensfeld, behind Oliver, Bidzans, Greutmann and Magnus Smith (DK).

“I am happy with the three race wins. I did not rest on my laurels, despite the absence of my team-mates, and pushed hard in all three races, in order to be well prepared for the remaining Grand Prix. It looks very good in the championship now,” said a delighted Oriol Oliver at the presentation ceremony.

ADAC MX Junior Cup 85: Heitink takes the lead in the championship

The ADAC MX Junior Cup 85 held three races on one weekend for the first time this season in Tensfeld. Reigning junior world champion Dani Heitink not only triumphed in Tensfeld, courtesy of two race wins on Sunday and a second place, but also moved to the top of the table on the back of his success. He faced stiff opposition from Dean Gregoire (NL/Schmicker Racing), who won the opener on Saturday and was leading race three with just a few metres remaining, until he was passed by Heitink. However, Gregoire had to retire from race two at the start, meaning he eventually had to settle for fifth place overall in Tensfeld. Oliver Agathon Hald (DK) improved over the weekend. The Dane finished fifth, fourth and third to claim second place overall behind Heitink. Michal Psiuk (PL/Mefo Sport Racing Team) kicked off with third place in Tensfeld, before coming home sixth and fourth on Sunday to claim the final spot on the overall podium. Psiuk was level on points with Travis Leok (EST/MX HANDEL-Racing), who recorded the same individual race results, but was classified fourth overall due to his poorer result in race three. One of the favourites, Áron Katona (HU/HTS KTM), endured a tough weekend. Despite showing what he was capable of with second place in race two, Katona could do no better than eighth place overall. Previous championship leader Jarne Bervoets (B/Bervoets Racing Team) moved up a class during the summer break, and he consequently drops back to fifth place in the table, behind Heitink, Gregoire, Katona and Leok.

“I am very happy with the weekend. After a good start, I drove a bit too rigidly on Saturday. It went better for me today, and I am pleased that I was still able to snatch the win in the final metres in race three. After the victory in the Junior World Championship and the Dutch Masters, my goal is to claim my third title of the season in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85,” said a confident Dani Heitink.

Team competition: Kosak Racing Team wins

The Team competition takes into account a team’s best result in each class, with the result of the ADAC MX Masters class counting double. The Kosak Racing Team emerged triumphant in Tensfeld, ahead of KMP Honda Racing powered by Krettek and the Becker Racing Team. KMP Honda Racing powered by Krettek moved to the top of the overall standings, just ahead of the KTM Sarholz Racing Team and Kosak Racing Team.

All the races from both days of the event can be watched in a full replay or as individual races via the free ADAC MX Masters playlist on the ADAC Motorsport YouTube channel. All the weekend’s results can be found online at adac.de/mx-masters.
