Record Grand Prix winner Jeffrey Herlings (NL/Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) lived up to his billing as favourite in the ADAC MX Masters in Gaildorf, winning both qualifying and the opening race in dry conditions. In the ADAC MX Youngster Cup, Oriol Oliver (E/WZ Racing) continued his winning run at the track, known locally as “auf der Wacht”. Mads Fredsøe (DK/STC Sturm Racing) emerged victorious from a thrilling battle in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125. In the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85, qualifying and the Last Chance Race took place. Áron Katona (HU/HTS KTM) set the fastest time to secure pole position for the two races on Sunday.

ADAC MX Masters: Dazzling display from Jeffrey Herlings

Having already set the fastest time in qualifying, Jeffrey Herlings sprinted over the Red Bull Holeshot line in first place at the start of Saturday’s opening race in the ADAC MX Masters. The Dutchman, making a guest start in the series, then continuously pulled clear of the rest of the field and established a lead of over 20 seconds on second-placed Henry Jacobi (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team). Jacobi slotted into second place at the start and went on to finish runner-up without every really being able to shake off the attention of Pauls Jonass (LVA/Standing Construct Honda MXGP) and Tom Koch (D/Kosak Racing Team) behind him. Jordi Tixier (F/KMP Honda Racing powered by Krettek) was able to match the pace of this group in the first half of the race, but then dropped away. Koch, meanwhile, continued to attack Jonass until the very end of the race, and did indeed manage to take third place behind Herlings and Jacobi on the final lap. Championship leader Max Nagl (D/KMP Honda Racing powered by Krettek) struggled and had to settle for eighth place, behind Boris Maillard (F/stielergruppe.mx Johannes-Bikes) and Maximilian Spies (D/Kosak Racing Team).

“After six weeks out with my injury, today went really well. The track is technically very demanding and I wish we had more fantastic natural tracks like this in the world championship. The German riders like Jacobi and Koch ride very, very well at home and it was not an easy win,” said Herlings at the presentation ceremony.

ADAC MX Youngster Cup: Oriol Oliver wins again

Race one of the ADAC MX Youngster Cup was eventually won by Oriol Oliver again. However, he was made to work for his success. Marnique Appelt (D/Becker Racing) initially took the lead with the Red Bull Holeshot. The fastest man in qualifying, Kay Karssemakers (NL/Husqvarna BT-Racing Team), slotted in behind him, followed by Peter König (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team), Oriol Oliver and Cato Nickel (D/WZ-Racing). After the first half of the race, Karssemakers moved to the front, ahead of Appelt, while Oliver battled his way past König. One lap later, Oliver climbed into second place, before taking the lead on the final lap and going on to claim victory ahead of Karssemakers and Appelt. König and Nickel rounded out the top five.

ADAC MX Junior Cup 125: Mads Fredsøe battles for the race win

In the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125, championship leader Mads Fredsøe took the lead at the start, followed by Vitezslav Marek (CZ/Cermen KTM Racing Team) and Maximilian Werner (D/Fantic Factory Team Maddii). Marek put Fredsøe under pressure from the word go and moved to the front of the field on lap four. However, Fredsøe refused to be shaken off and piled his own pressure on Marek. By the final third of the race, Julius Mikula (CZ/MJC Yamaha Official EMX 125 Team) had worked his way through the field after a disappointing start. He overtook Werner, who had had a lone race in third place up to that point. Just one lap later, Fredsøe retook the lead and went on to pull six seconds clear of Marek, Mikula, Werner and Markuss Ozolins (LVA) by the time he took the chequered flag.
