Step by step to the summit: The team champions from FK Performance Motorsport

All good things come in threes: FK Performance Motorsport have won the ADAC GT Masters team title. After finishing as runners-up on two occasions, the team from Bremen took a big leap forward in 2026. Competing with three BMW M4 GT3 Evo in their fourth ADAC GT Masters season, the team founded by Fabian Finck and Martin Kaemena also secured second place in the drivers’ championship and the Silver Cup with Tim Zimmermann and Leyton Fourie. “We are delighted that we have now also claimed a GT3 racing title,” explains Finck. “The overall package was spot on. Whether we’re talking about drivers, engineers, mechanics or the people in the background: hardly anyone made any errors.”

The breakthrough came on the second race weekend, when Fourie and Zimmermann claimed their first win of the season and followed this up by finishing second one day later. A debut podium for Fabio Rauer und Storm Gjerdrum was the icing on the cake - at the age of 18 years, four months and 26 days, they were the third-youngest driving duo in the history of the series to have reached the rostrum. Having also triumphed at the Lausitzring and the Salzburgring, Fourie and Zimmermann topped the standings on several occasions and were in first place ahead of the finale. Although they reached the podium once again – the fifth one for the team – it was not quite enough to secure the overall win. However, FK Performance Motorsport did have an unassailable 39-point lead in the team standings.

Friendship and passion are the twin pillars underpinning the team. In addition to being friends for nearly 30 years, the founding duo of Finck and Kaemena have also raced together. When competing in the Nürburgring Endurance Series, they used to enjoy driving their trailer to the circuit three or four times a year. They decided to take the plunge in 2013: FK Performance Motorsport was established using the F for Finck and the K for Kaemena, developing into a partnership that picked up speed and grew year by year.

Appearing initially only at the Nürburgring, FK Performance Motorsport joined the DTM Trophy in 2020, making a successful move into sprint racing. Just one year later, the team celebrated victory in the drivers’ championship with Ben Green, who would later make his name in the DTM. The team has been racing in the ADAC GT Masters and the ADAC GT4 Germany since 2023. Now they have added the team title to the second-place finishes in the drivers’ championship and the team standings in the ADAC’s competition for young GT3 drivers.

However, the atmosphere within the FK Performance Motorsport team is just as important as the results themselves. “Ever since my time in GT4 racing, this team has felt like a family. It is always a great, positive atmosphere,” comments Fourie approvingly. For the founders of the team, adding an element of fun to the weekends is essential to enabling team members and drivers to go that extra mile. “We can count on the support of a fantastically resilient team that is bursting with passion and commitment,” says a delighted Kaemena. “For example, we have been friends with technical director Roman Kajtov since 2009, and he joined the team full-time in 2019.“

FK Performance Motorsport have also been racing in the BMW M2 Cup since 2026, offering seats in the “Road to DTM” youth development programme. The aim is to retain talented young drivers in the team for more than just one year, supporting their progress with a successful partnership. As to whether the team will take another step up, Finck remains non-committal: “The desire for more is just part of human nature. Time will tell what that means in the end.”
