Simon Connor Primm (21/Großschirma/HGL Racing) set the fastest time of the day in the ADAC GT Masters at the Nürburgring on Friday. He produced his fastest lap in the morning session, stopping the clock at 1:25.981 minutes in his Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo 2. “We only had a slight issue today, which we were able to solve within a few minutes. Otherwise, it was a trouble-free day. We tested what we had intended to,” said Primm. “I did some extra training at home and prepared intensively for the heat, although the temperatures here are still pretty pleasant at the moment. We are obviously hoping to carry on where we left off at the Lausitzring and to secure pole position again. Ideally, to win the race too.”
In glorious sunshine and temperatures around 26 degrees, Felix Hirsiger (28/CHE) took second place. The driver from Liqui Moly Team Engstler Motorsport missed out on pole by just 0.017 seconds in his Lamborghini. The man currently sitting second in the table in the ADAC GT Masters was the only driver in the top five who set his fastest time in the afternoon session. Only Primm and Hirsiger managed to dip below the 1:26-minute mark on Friday. “I am very happy with the day. The second session was super, and we prepared for qualifying. The feeling was there, the car was there, although the high temperatures were definitely not helpful when it came to setting fast times,” said Hirisger. “Finn also showed on his long run that we are stable and capable of regaining the lead in the championship. I believe that is possible, because we are mentally strong. That is always the key when it comes to the title race.”
Completing the top three was Leo Pichler (24/AUT/Razoon - more than Racing). He shares his Porsche 911 GT3 R with rookie Alexander Tauscher (23/Mitterfels) this weekend. Pichler’s fastest run was 0.142 seconds slower than Primm. Fourth place went to Leyton Fourie (20/ZAF/FK Performance Motorsport). The championship leader, at the wheel of a BMW M4 GT3 Evo, was 0.237 seconds off pole pace. Baudouin Detout (25/FRA/Comtoyou Racing) was fifth fastest in an Aston Martin Vantage GT3 on Friday, missing out on the top time by 0.446 seconds.
The first qualifying session of the weekend takes place at 09:20 on Saturday morning and will be broadcast live at youtube.com/ADACMotorsports. The 60-minute sprint race starts at 13:45 and will be shown in full on Joyn, ServusTV On and Youtube.
